Ok, Im finally getting around to posting the modifications I made to my Ranger ARE DCU double barn door shell. There is a 2" length difference between the Ranger and Tacoma box. Tacoma being longer. 20200104_150527.jpg
These are the 2 pieces I removed. The 1x1.5 thin aluminum was the old lower rear door frame and the 1x1 black angle was on the front of the cap.

New 1x1 1/8 thick aluminum bar welded in place. Drilled a new hole for the lock rod. Rear of cap is done.

Installed, sealed and much sturdier than before. The rear of the bed floor were in rolls down above the bumper got pushed forward with a 2x4 to gain the extra 1/2".

Getting ready for the weather seal and some aluminum checker plate to cover a burn hole in the outer skin. Whoops!

Nice solid seal up front. Still have enough room to clean the windows too. I also found some soft rubber seal I used between the cap and taillight gap. Sorry no pics of that right now.

I paid $300 for the cap, $55 for the aluminum, afternoon spent with my cousin doing the mod and of course dinner at the pub afterwards. Couldn't even put a deposit on a new cap for that price.:D So I say buy the Ranger cap and make it fit.
