    Just saw this today:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-giWYOeLFk

Maybe it was posted earlier, but I couldn't find it on a search. It basically confirms my thoughts about the vehicles and makes me feel a bit better after going with a Tacoma.

The things they quibbled with on the Tacoma don't bother me at all. Personally I find the steering very accurate, with a good road feel. Yes, it drives trucky, which is fine with me. Some of the issues re' auto gearing don't apply since I have a manual.

I am pleased they respected the offroad prowess of the Tacoma. I was surprised the Ranger sucked as much as it did in that category.

They didn't mention gas mileage thank goodness...

Yes I wish the Tacoma had Apple Play for 2019 but not a dealbreaker. I like the interior better than either of the others. And exteriorly it looks much, much better.

All in all, there was nothing with the Ranger or Colorado that would persuade me to change my mind.

I've watched this video before, and honestly wouldn't trust any of these reviewers. "Truckiest truck"...

While dated, it is interesting that they also left out the Nissan Frontier. The road they drove on in the vid would be no issue for my Pro 4x.
I know I don't have all the new and greatest tech stuff, but I don't need it. My 16 Frontier reminds me of my old 06 Tacoma.

Apparently Frontier owners are so old they still haven’t formed an online forum.

What I find interesting about the comparison of these 3 is that it looks at the underlying (base) design...not the tricked out, heavily modified offroad versions (ZR2, TRD Pro, or the Raptor which hasn't hit the US market yet).

Arguably, the TRD Pro sees the least changes in terms of suspension and overall setup...it's basically a TRD offroad with slightly better suspension, fake hood scoop, some decals and different wheels/tires. The ZR2 is much more heavily modified (track width, front/rear lockers, very unique suspension) and I'm sure the Raptor will be similar in that regard.

One way to look at it: Toyota doesn't put a whole lot of effort into its TRD lineup...good argument to be made there.
Another way to look at it: the base Tacoma is already so well designed for offroad use (tucked away shocks, very good approach/departure angles, good ground clearance) that Toyota doesn't really have to change much with the design. Whereas the other trucks have to go through quite a bit more modification to get morphed into their "offroad" variants.

For all of its shortcomings, the Tacoma definitely seems like it was engineered from the get-go as an offroad vehicle.

Can’t stand looking at that Colorado truck, it’s even worse in person.

On another note, here’s the beautiful new Colorado fuel cell truck, they managed to make a worse looking vehicle than the Asstek!

Bullshit review... check out Stage 3 Motorsports review of the Ranger off road if you want a real take. All 3 trucks will take you anywhere (within reason) you wanna go. Really just comes down to personal preference in styles...and of course some would have you believe one will last longer than the others but beyond that it’d be hard to choose wrong.

Yep, I would bet I am in the older group posting here. Have owned a couple of Tacoma's in the past. They were great trucks.
Seems some of the younger generations don't know how to search. Hint: Nissan Frontier Forums :D
