I came across an interesting issue yesterday in my 2021 TRD OR.

I was slowly driving up a vertical incline in a parking garage and slowed down right before a speed bump at the top of the incline. As I was starting moving over the speed bump, if the vehicle starts to roll backwards slightly while the gas is being pressed, I hear this rapid clicking noise and the VSC off button flashes rapidly.

To fix it, I just turned the vehicle off, turned it on, and then accelerated over the speed bump from a fully stopped position. I tried to recreate the issue to no avail so I cannot gave any additional details.

Does anyone know what could cause this? From trying to read about the issue, it seems like ot could be some strange hill assist mode being activated, but I am unsure.

Auto braking for roll back is my guess.

Truck thinks you (or the truck) are doing something stupid and is trying to maintain traction to save your ass. Turn the VSC if you hate this feature but I recommend you leave it on.

This is why. Its not so much a "hill assist" as it doesn't seem to hold you in place like other trims do, but more a traction control feature, as it thinks its odd your rolling backwards in forward gear, so its applying brakes. If you've never used crawl control before, you can try it out and get the same fun sounds.

Definitely the roll back, first time I heard it, I thought something was wrong to haha.
Just guessing, but it’s probably designed to allow a slight roll back to allow to gain momentum or repositioning in off road situations.
