Raptor & fog lights in Virginia

    I just got back from a state inspection here in the Commonwealth, and I had to remove my raptor lights (no DOT number on them) as well as my Lamin-X fog light covers (no film on fogs). Just a heads up so someone can avoid the trouble.

    Happened to me in NH as well. The revised inspection law prevents anything that has external covering on OEM lights and raptor style lights are considered for tall & wide vehicles; aka DOT numbers like big rigs...

    I mean to be fair, the shop is 100% in the right.

    If you want aftermarket lights, you have to have them blackout covered on the road if they don't meet SAE/DOT standards.

    That's also not to say many shops won't bat an eye at them.
