I am thinking about getting those amber grill lights. I want to know if someone here as any installed and how do they work e.g do run just as DRL or are they on all the time when truck is running.
    Thanks for any input

I was not aware of different ways to hook them up. I was going by what they show on their plug and play instruction. I just wanted to know if that meant they are only DRL or both. They don't specify that is why I am asking here. Seems like I have to wait till Friday going by one of our member lol. Thanks for being kind

Is it Friday? General response when someone creates a thread revolving around a common topic…such as

    Motor oil selection
What’s the biggest size tires I can fit w/o a lift
    Best suspension upgrade
Why is my white paint peeling
    Fuel Mileage

I’d also suggest avoiding the topic of spacer lifts or blocks.

If you’re unsure, always preface your thread with the “I’ve done a lot of research” disclaimer and you should be good.

If I vanish, I’ve said too much!

I was looking at so many lights and got confused at what would be best, install and functions. Raptors, FilCopo and a few others. No mention of DRL or not.

LOL, this is definitely a uber-discussed topic around here. But we are so conditioned these days to asking the internet for an instant answer that doing some pre-question research feels like digging a damn digital ditch. :)

Enjoy your raptor lights OP, many on the planet do! I saw some on a mini-van recently.

I usually run through a couple install guides or videos by end users to familiarize myself with the process before I commit to purchasing anything. I’m an electrical dummy, so anything plug and play would be my preference. If you can find a video for the kit you are most interested in, it may have clues to how it would function. If they use an add a fuse on the drl fuse for example

I agree. Raptor lights on a Tacoma seem silly to me. But I understand we all have different taste. If I absolutely had to install Raptor lights, I would go with Amber color. I would also want to wire them in a way where I could turn them off if I wanted. Most kits I see indicate that when headlights are on, raptor lights are on since they use the headlights harness to power.

I have a friend who bought the Raptor when it first came out. He grins when he sees all the products as well as design cues taken from the raptor ... the 4th gen Taco is one example.

I admit, the look of the 4th gen is growing on me now that is becoming more common, but I really didn't like the design at first. It felt like Toyota was trying to make it look like a Ford or a Chevy.

I'll stick to amber back lit lights for any accent lighting.

Mine are wired in on a switch panel so they are on when ever I want them on. I wouldn't tie into an existing power source for anything beyond a signal to activate a relay. Leds are low draw but i have done my best to leave all factory wiring alone on my truck to limit any future problems. Even my switch panel isn't hooked to a switched 12v source so it can be ran with the truck off for camp lights

Interesting. I'd like to know more about how you powered your Auxbeam. I'm a novice, so I've just been winging my wiring. I believe the way I wired my Auxbeam, the truck has to be in at least accessory mode to use it. But I do plan on connecting my Blue Sea Systems for anytime needs. My understanding is in the case of my air compressor, the truck should be on to run it. But LED lights would be nice to activate anytime. Do you mind sharing a photo of your wiring? I've documented my progress on the forum here.

No pictures but its really easy. All i did was pull an additional 18g wire from the hot connection at auxbeam relay box that is in the engine bay back to the switch pictured by the switch panel in the cab. Flip that switch it powers the panel right from the battery and no mucking around with the factory wiring it's all stand alone.

I havnt wired in my compressor as I move it from vehicle to vehicle somewhat regularly and with the amount of back road I bang the truck down I don't want any extra weight mounted to my fenders as I'm sure if I looked close enough the factory battery tray has already cracked. But if I were to do it I would wire it in via a relay then just use the 5amp output from the auxbeam as a trigger for the relay as the highest fused output is 30 amp and im sure most compressors can exceed that amount of draw.
