My first set had a couple die after a year. I bought another full set to have spares, and now I’ve used those up as well. I’ve looked at taking them apart to solder in new LEDs but they look to be sealed; I don’t see a way to take them apart without damaging them.

LEDs should basically last until the end of time. If they are burning out, they are being overdriven. You could add a resistor but they won't be as bright.

Fun fact, the raptor doesn't come with the lights because of style, it's mandated by the DOT because the truck width exceeds 80"

Most led failures are related to their enclosures thermal capacity.

Mcpcb's and aluminum housings ain't cheap. And plastic sealed enclosures don't conduct

I’ve had these installed for 4 years and not a single burnout. I switched for the same reason you mentioned.

Im in the camp with those that say they are not needed because the tacoma is not 80" wide or wider like a Raptor is.
I considered getting them 5 years ago when I got my truck to be like all the cool kids around here and other owners near me but I decided not to and not to get a TRD bro grille either.
I did swap my SR5 grille for a 2022 TRD sport take off cause that grill is nice as it is.

Could you buy a set of actual Raptor lights from Ford and make them work on a Tacoma? I would think that the best Raptor lights out there are actual Raptor lights.

I've replaced my first set of smoked ambers a while ago...there was moisture in one of the lights and it was dimmer than the rest.

Also, I set it up where the grill lights came on when the headlights are turned on so they aren't constantly running.

I hate REPTOR lights on Toyota’s so when I see one of them burned out I just get to chuckle more to myself.

But that’s the way it goes. People want to “customize” their vehicle and make it theirs.

Agreed - I also don't care for them - like the Pro grill they are kind of trendy or whatever - at first they made me cringe but now I just don't even notice them. As you said they can do whatever they want it's their truck - but yeah clearance lights are silly looking IMO on a small mid size truck.
