Where are you guys go to for “rare” parts? I need a throttle body and it seems like it doesn’t exist outside of a potential part out. I’ve been looking through and contacting every suitable Tacoma part out I can find and it’s either not available, or a scammy FB marketplace post. The only place I saw it in stock is on the United Arab Emirates Toyota website for $570 and I’m pretty certain they don’t actually have this discontinued part in stock. Part number for the throttle body is 22210-62260. It’s for a ‘99 manual 3.4 4X4 with cruise control. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a good answer for your question, but my friend with a '98 (same specs - 6cyl, MT w/cruise) was in the same boat as you. He had his throttle body redone by a guy who rebuilds throttle bodies, and then he replaced the IAC and TPS with OEM old new stock parts from the local dealer. I'd suggest considering this route if I were you.

Unfortunately the guy he had do his throttle body has since passed away, so you'd have to shop around for someone who can rebuild yours.

    Edit:
Someone else is looking for the same service. May want to watch this thread for possible options:

I appreciate the response! This is the most likely route at this point, but I’m not ready to pay $700+ all in on rebuilding this throttle body. It’s crazy how much the OEM IAC alone is. The cheapest I’ve found new was around $250. My local dealers online store is asking $268. I’ve found a couple used ones on eBay for around $100, but I don’t like the idea of buying a wear part that’s used and over 20 years old. Fingers crossed I’ll get lucky before I get impatient. Thanks again!

Somehow I missed this… Thank you for the response! I’ve been on dozens of local Toyota dealership parts online sites… No luck. I’ve been hoping for a random dealership to have it in stock, but no luck yet. Even on eBay, I haven’t found one. Plenty of used OEM throttle bodies, just not this exact one… Even the remanufactured Chinese unbranded ones don’t carry this model. It’s the unicorn throttle body, apparently. lol.

I’ve seen this listing/seller. I thought the 62210 and 62220 came with the 2wd’s and I don’t see a dash pot on it needed for the manual. I’m still new to Toyotas and uncertain to flexibility with the 3.4 system. Looks like I need to keep researching.

Man, $777 is out of my range right now. Thank you for the link though. It shows that there’s another route that I wasn’t aware of… I’ll start looking into Land Cruiser sites for used options. Thank you!

Curious why you would need one though. What broke?

I’ve been having high idle and after cleaning my throttle body, IAC, mass air coctrol sensor, air filter, smoke test for vacuum and exhaust leaks… I noticed that there was a nice gap in the butterfly valve. Without an affordable company that rebuilds throttle bodies(that I’ve found), it makes sense to me to try and find a replacement in better condition.

Why is the dash pot not necessary? From an engineering stand point, the system was intentionally designed this way.

I found one. After emailing tons of sellers on eBay and searching everywhere I could think of, I found a miss labeled add on eBay, who had a 22210-62250 for sale, but had it listed under the IAC part number. Seeing how his listing was miss labeled I took a shot to see if he had any other throttle bodies that might be miss labeled or not yet listed and specifically the one I’m after and he did… $249. A little more than I wanted to spend, but the search is over.

90% of our throttle bodies don't have the dash pot without issues. All it does is keep the plate from slapping. Throttle plate is supposed to not fully seal like a valve

Thank you. I appreciate it. After reading your response and looking more into the dash pot and its functionality, I found a couple threads that talked about faulty dash pots causing high idle. I hadn’t heard of this before. It would be funny if it were the cause of my high idle and I just spent good money at the wrong problem.

“As it turns out, the dashpot was, in fact, the cause of the high idle. Good call Inferno 451. It appears that the return spring on the throttle body was not able to overcome the resistence of the plunger on the dashpot. Whether that is because the throttle body is dirty, or because the dashpot is old and sticky is something that I have not yet addressed. BUT, the high idle problem is fixed, so I'm happy about that.”

In the future there are a couple of people that regularly part out Tacomas on the 1st Gen parts market place where you can get a wide variety of parts from. Check OfferUp too. There’s a young guy named Angel who I bought a brake booster / master cylinder / pedal from who parts out a lot of Tacomas and 4runners with compatible parts.

Thank you. I looked here as well for matching part outs, without any luck. I’ve had good luck though buying from folks on here. I’ve only dealt with good people who are great sellers.

Contacting sellers on eBay ended up being the winning ticket. I was able to find a seatbelt for my truck as well… Same seller as the throttle body. It wasn’t listed. He checked his inventory and then got back to me pretty quickly(same day) with a price after finding it. It looks almost brand new and cost $149 plus shipping. Not too bad for a discontinued OEM part in great condition.

If you need to replace other seatbelts, there are some companies online that will reuse most of the parts and put new webbing and springs on them.

For sure… It’s my daily driver though and I couldn’t be without it for more than a couple days. I will however send mine out after replacing it and hold onto it to pass onto another person having a difficult time finding
    this hard to find part.

Yeah that’s what I did too - for my wife’s 4runner I bought some used ones that are better so I can have something to use while I send the old ones out.

Basically - in Sun Valley. That’s his profile in the link.
