    Hi,
I had some rats enjoy the night in my engine bay. The F***rs chewed the engine harness at the passenger firewall area. They liked the cover but hit the wires!!!
I could use help on how to fix.
Clean it with? then use liquid black tape?

They even chewed thru a coolant hose that goes to the throttle body.

Can't tell from the picture but if the damage is minor you can liquid tape over the bare spots and wrap it up good in electrical tape. If they chewed through more than a few strands of wire though I would do a proper repair by soldering in new sections of the damaged wire(s) and heat shrinking them.

I hate to see posts like this. The Little fuckers. Hopefully there is no hidden damage. Any warning lights come on in the dash?

You need to kill them as fast as you can...once they start that they will be relentless
put some peanut butter, sugar, and baking soda in equal amounts and mix it up good..put it under there and they will die

After you get rid of them, I read on some other mouse/rat related post that Honda has some kind of tape with repellent in it that seems to be the best. Might want to look up that stuff and rap the bejeebus out of things.

The problem with repellents in an engine bay is you have to continually apply them, I've found they work ok in encolsed spaces but in open spaces like engine bays they don't last long.

I’ve had mice chew the wiring harness twice now in my tacoma. $1500.00 to fix! Luckily my insurance covered all but deductible. After the second time I installed these on my truck, the wife’s rav4, riding lawnmower, and utv.

Daughter installed these or similar on her expedition after a mouse attack ($1,500.00 repair) and has had no reoccurrence since.

I have used the tape- it works- I even gave it a taste test = not tasty, not too spicy but gets the job done. In addition I made a homemade spray of peppermint, cyan pepper and garlic then sprayed that on engine bay and around where I park to deter them litter varmits. The Gamo has also helped out a bit :infantry:
