I used this stuff to paint my front bumper. I’d say it’s pretty damn close to powder coating

My hood and fender, spot here and there. I chickened out of Monsta lining it but have no interest in buying a paint gun etc. I’ve seen some pretty friggen good rattle can paint jobs. I need imperial jade micha, it’s available but was hoping someone has done the same and has a brand they had success with

Another vote for Rustoleum HP Enamal. Dries quickly and is pretty darn durable.

I don’t imagine Imperial Jade Micha comes in those brands... Talking real basecoat paint in a rattle can. It’s out there... just unfamiliar with some of these brands3919EC02-3B95-4696-8EB6-81A7564551B4.jpg6F9669AB-1AF1-42FE-96A3-E7124C5204F9.jpg

I used duplicolor on a Subaru. It was pretty damn close to matching the old paint. I'd imagine they would have Toyota as well.

Some of the local Napa places will mix automotive spray paint and put it in a can too

Either too much brush pressure or too aggressive of a brush on that front center cap but otherwise a fine job:)

I found Duplicolor to be weak so I asked a local body shop to sell me a quart of the actual paint and they sent me to the distributor downtown where they get it. The shop was sort of like a Graybar, geared to sell business to business but happy to mix up a custom matched quart of PPG just like the body shop sprays for $60 including all 3 components. You can get a HVLP spray gun from harbor freight for $15, $10 on sale that is equivalent to the $60 Husky gun at home depot. The real paint dries to be much much tougher than Duplicolor which is really weak in comparison. If you get the HF HVLP sprayguns for $10 ea on sale, they are almost disposable.

I bought 3 HF HVLP guns to spray my 40' Sailboat with 2 part epoxy. Did a 1st class job with one gun and returned the other 2 guns unused for refund. pats pix 006.jpg

I hear ya but don’t want to deal with Mixing hardners and messing around w/ pressure. Gimme a can of spray paint, some buffing compound and wax. It’s been out of the show circuit for some time :anonymous:
