I've had a rattle coming from my muffler/converter area for about the past year and it's driving me nuts.

I replaced the muffler a few months ago and just last week replaced the catalytic converter. The rattle got better. It now only rattles once I'm up at about 45 mph. Before it would rattle whenever I revved the engine.

Now I can hear a rattle at speed even when I'm not pressing the accelerator. I've also checked the exhaust shields and haven't found any gravel above them that could be causing the issue.

I love my Taco, but this rattle is loud and needs to stop.

Thanks for any and all help!

I had the same problem, and it was the flimsy thin metal that is attached to the bottom of the truck. I thought it was the heat shield around the converter, but its actually than thin metal. I don't know the exact name, maybe someone else does, but I would check on that.

Hmm. I'll have to keep looking under there for flimsy pieces of metal. Thanks for the help!

I had a rock get in the heat shield and it was causing a rattle sound.
