I have noticed since I dropped in a KN on my 09 V6 that there is a rattle/rumbling sound from the airbox. Does anyone else notice this? What is the cause?

is it the drop in filter or the cold air intake type?

Assuming you have a CAI and that you checked for any loose parts, you might want to check that your filter cone is not touching the heat shield hole. If it's not, move it around a bit to see if it does touch the heat shield. Sometimes even the clamp might be close to it and when the truck is running, it might tap the heat shield causing the rattling.

I guess I left out a key component. Its a drop in filter, and I have checked all connections and latches. Everything is secure. I mainly hear it in the morning when I'm pulling out of the garage. Does the KN add a low rumble? I never noticed it in my F150 but that was cone filter and this one is a flat one.

Checked the fit. Its tight. I guess what I am hearing is the intake. Just thought it was strange. Guess there is not alot of sound deadning materail in the firewall. I can live with it, was just curious..

    Thanks for the info.
