About a week ago I replaced both of my front cv axles. Install was pretty easy, aside from having to remove the coil over at the bottom mount to be able to remove the old/ replace the new cv. Used a “how-to” from this site for the project.

Now that it’s been almost a week since they were installed I have noticed a knock/rattle sound from the area of my differential. It sounds like metal rattling around, similar to the sound my skid plate made when it was loose and bouncing around; it since has been tightened and is not loose but the noise persists.

I lost some diff oil during the install and need to check my level and possibly top it off haven’t had the time with work but have a few days off coming up that will allow me to work on it.

What could be causing this noise? I’m new to Tacomas and don’t have much experience with working on vehicles aside from oil changes and front brakes. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

when you slid the D/S inner axle spline it did you feel it click into place... maybe it is fully seated.
