I heard a rattling noise inside the cabin when on washboard roads / bumpy off-road. It took me a while to figure it out, but when I put my left foot behind the foot brake (automatic trans) and pulled forward to put tension on the brake arm it stopped.

I haven't stuffed my head back by the pedals yet to investigate if I can easily add a spring or something to keep it from rattling. Maybe you've already fixed this and have a solution?

I have no experience with this but it sounds like a return spring problem. If you can, have a look and let us know what you find.

Well, you inspired me to go out and look, @winkel

It looks like the parking brake cable was a little loose, so I tightened the nuts on the end snug to the pedal interface, but the rattle most likely comes from how the stamped metal pedal interfaces with the mount with a riveted/smashed pivot. There's play in there.

Here's my rambling video showing before/after adjustment:

Well, I was able to get back on some washboard a few weeks ago and tightening up the cable preload did not fix it. I'm convinced it is the lateral movement between the stamped hinge piece and the actual pedal lever itself slapping against each other.

I'm having the same problem on my 2015 also. I tightened my cable also, only I did it under the center console by the gear selector. Did not fix the issue. I'm thinking about putting some grease in between the metal that's vibrating to insulate, hopefully will work. It looks like there was some before but worked it's way out over time... Were you able to get yours fixed? The rattling sound is driving me up the wall...

No fix yet. Tried adjusting things but that didn’t fix it. The issue is the slop in the stamped metal design without any bearing or anything solid to adjust.

I just put my left foot behind it and work my shin muscle for miles putting tension on the pedal from behind.
