Well the forecast calls for 5 to 8 inches of snow at big bear. I’ve driven on fresh snow and it wasn’t bad, but I have Wildpeak ATW3s. I don’t know if stock tires will do ok, some have stock trucks right? I’d still like to go but I’m not equipped to recover myself or others. So count me as a maybe.

I have those same tires but everything else is pretty stock... As far as recovery I have a D-Shackle Tow hook with 1 recovery strap. Not the best way to get someone out but it will probably be better than nothing. Does anyone else have any recovery gear just incase?

Not sure if that area will be affected but heavy rain may lead to quite a bit of mud and trail closures. Have fun regardless but tread lightly.

Most of southern CA area will be getting rain.

I have a few tow straps I carry on me and some snow chains I have for my truck. I was up there a few weeks ago when it was snowing with a 2wd 4Runner and it did fine with just the snow chains on. Of course Inhave 4wd on my truck though

    Do you have 4wd?

    Too few to list.
I was up in Big Bear during the last storm we had. It was snowing the whole day and there was a fair amount of people on the trails so I wouldn't worry too much about getting stranded. For the most part, trail was covered in snow and I tried just RWD and it was fine on some parts but the rear end was just too light in some so it slipped and had to switch to 4x4. I recommend weight in the bed and chains if just pre-runner. There's also check points so carrying chains are a must. If you do put on chains, make sure it's on correctly as I saw a couple of trucks with theirs getting loose. Well, heard it before I saw it.

I think I am going to have to back out of this one, unfortunately, I'm not too comfortable with how the weather is shaping up for this one. If you guys decide to re-run this trail in a dryer time I would be down to run it 100%

So after giving it a lot of thought I’m going to have to back out. I don’t feel comfortable going out in those conditions with limited recovery gear. You guys have fun, be safe and I’ll join the next time.

Didn’t end up going. Might go at the end of the month though. We’ll see what happens.
