I just purchased a 2004 DC/SB. When the driver's side window (power) is down there is a serious rattle. Dead quiet when the window is up. Any suggestions?

If you open the door there should be a bolt on the side of the door. People said you can tighten that up and it might help. I have the same problem. I tried to tighten the bolts and just sheared the head off so I just forgot about it.

the other thing that happens is the spot welds break where the bracket connects to the U glass guide.

I did the exact thing back when I had my 2000. Thought I’d found the problem and sheared that bolt head right off.

i chased that noise for months and the whole time my wife was saying “I don’t even hear it”.....and that noise was on my deaf ear side!

Eventually sold it and bought my 2015

You think they’d make the bolt so you could actually tighten it

I ground down the pulled through spot welds, drilled and used a 1/16" steel pop rivit. I think that the rear glass guide is still avalible from the dealer.

I don't have an FSM for the 2004. Will the 1995 version get me inside the door so I can see what is broken/loose?

As long as the bolt hasn't come out of the bracket inside the door, it shouldn't matter if the window is up or down when tightening. If it has come out of the bracket, it will be necessary to remove the door panel to line up the hole on the bracket with the bolt so you can re-attach it.

If the bolt is already snug, do not try to over-tighten it as it could break. If this is the case, you will need to remove the door panel to see what else is loose inside that is causing the rattle.
