hey, I saw that you are giving away a set of bed rail plastic covers and I am really curious as to what is happening to the truck they came from. I have been wanting to do some custom rails on my truck to give myself tie down points and a headache rack, but lacking funds to get it together just yet. Part of a new bed rail system would also involve connecting to the top of bed rails, and I thought that if you have pulled the plastic pieces from your truck, you have probably messed with a bit under that sheet metal layer.

I went with @KB Voodoo bed rails. I'll get some pics soon of how it looks underneath the plastic but pretty much a bunch of skinny holes where the clips go for the plastic

was it pretty easy getting the plastic covers off? Looks like there is something solid in the inside of the rail, probably what the tie down track bolts into. I have some steel in my back yard I may try to carve down to size and maybe make my own bed rail covers, then drill holes every foot for putting tie downs on at. If only I had more metal working tools and the skills to back them...
Thanks for pic and pointing me to Voodoo

No problem. The plastic bed rail covers just pull right up once you take the bed rail track off and some clips. I'm sure you can find @KB Voodoo 's instructions somewhere out there. It was a very easy install. Under the steel there is some double sided tape to cushion between the truck and steel.

It is an overly massive, heavy monster, but on the other hand, the pinion gear is supported on both ends and it's really easy to set the backlash on the ring gear. Pretty much makes up for the loss of ground clearance and the extra weight, making it a lot better axle than a D60/70, IMHO.

Edit: it also bares mentioning that I don't speak fondly of too many Generic Motors products, so that was high praise for me. :D
