Pings. Sorta normal. Use quality higher octane or get a tune. No other ways to fix it

I agree sounds like ping to me. Have you been through a tank of gas since this started? Could be bad gas or something like that.

My truck with 30k on it has done it for 30k lol. Gets slightly better with higher octane. Actually got worse with an OTT tune so I’m all stock now. My 2016 did it as well.

I was too. My truck runs good with the stock tune though so I have no real complaints

Pings on acceleration often happen at a certain rpm combined with a certain pressure on the accelerator. Try backing off or pressing harder on the accelerator when this happens.

We run a little more advance than stock (it’s one of the only ways to actually make a little power on this platform)

If it’s knocked for 30k stock our tune wouldn’t help.

    Is OTT optimized for 87?

It’s optimized for 87-91+. Despite everyone throwing around “octane learning” in their marketing, our ignition strategy follows Toyota’s per their patent. If it’s optimized for a specific octane you have hamstrung the knock control strategy by incorrectly configuring the ignition tables. Using the tables as outlined in the patent allows for optimization for a range of fuel grades. You can configure how wide or narrow that range is based on how you configure specific tables. We retain the OE ‘window’.

Try driving with ECT on and see if it helps. I had it on the other day for a bit, and didn't hear it.

Sorry OP. The video too short, I do not hear rattling/grinding noise on acceleration. Unless I need hearing exam?:D
I don't know. Too much "technical mumbo-jumbo." But I was told by my OTT Tuner, the tune does not matter what fuel grades of gasoline, 87-91, I fill in my personal 2023 TRD OffRoad, 6spd manual 4x4, I fill with non-ethanol 89 octane gasoline. Apparenty, the OP Tacoma is automatic.:D

Same exact problem with my 2021. Tempted to just leave it be but don’t want to damage my engine.

The problem is that it comes and goes depending on the weather & where ur fuel tank level is at. Dealer couldn’t replicate the noise when I took it to them for warranty repairs.
Plenty of others have had this same problem on their trucks but I haven’t heard of anyone who has gotten it figured out yet.

Something I’ve been curious about is whether or not the trucks that have ended up burning valves have had pinging or not.

Either way it’s my opinion that a majority of these trucks ping to some extent, it’s just that either it’s unnoticed or the drivers aren’t sure what they’re hearing.

I’m having concerns regarding my 2022 tacoma that i just purchased yesterday… it came with 67k miles and overall has been a tank. However, just today i started noticing a rattling sound from the front as I accelerate, initially when it’s in the 20-30mph range, and occasionally when I'm accelerating at a higher speed. I heard it could be maybe a wire behind the radio thats tapping, or maybe the dashboard is tapping against the windshield when those initial vibrations kick in when the gears shift as i accelerate. Performance wise the truck is running beautifully as of now. But i always get paranoid over small things like this and im just trying to figure out if anyone had this same issue and if it was just caused by something very stupid and easy to fix. Please someone give me some reassurance and tell me good news Lol.. Also hoping this rattling sound isn’t the start of something mechanical that will kill my truck because i just got it
