Question for those who have been to Rausch Creek before. I see in the rules that they require a "full size spare" tire. Does that mean matching size to what is on the truck, or just no little donut spares? Will I be okay with a stock spare if I am running 255/85R16s?

FWIW I know I should have a matching spare.

You will be fine with that spare. No worries. I ran a stock spare and 33's for years and they never said boo.

they wont actually inspect you...but if you damage a tire and drive home on a 31in stock spare compared too the 33.5in km2 you and your truck wont be happy...do yourself a favor and get a fullsize spare....always smart to do even if you dont wheel your rig;)

    LMAO!!!

Seriously though, you guys should look more into carrying the stuff needed to fix a flat tire as well as a full size spare. I have a whole bag devoted to tire repair, everything from about 30 tire plugs to lots of different sized patches as well. I had to loan my spare to a buddy once on the trail because he got 2 flats in a row, one would have been easily fixed with an inside patch to that's when I started carrying that stuff. Really not that hard to break down the tire enough to get a patch on, re inflate and carry on with the day.

Yea I've been meaning to get some supplies. I've read bailing wire and plugs is usually enough to fix even a slashed sidewall. Ill have to look up an inside patch. I've only ever seen plugs..

Yea strictly as a trail repair I've stuffed as many as 8 plugs into a sidewall. I would never advise trying to run any repair like that on the road though.

As far as patches, yea that's the real way to fix a tire however plugs seem to work pretty dang well and are alot easier and quicker to apply.
