Most PA camp grounds have strict drinking rules, and quiet times, at least the ones I've been to. Plus I'm not sure how interested i am in a 30 min drive after a long day of sodas. My vote is just deal with the burn ban.

    This is not exactly correct.
However Shamokin is in Northumberland County and Centralia is in Columbia County so it is very possible they do not have the same month long burn ban that Schuykill County does.

Technically you need a permit to drive in the Shamokin area and even with it land use is restricted dawn to dusk.

Twin grove shouldn't be an issue with the group size. I was down there for a family reunion and there was an Nissan extera meet staying there. Was about 30 of them and Rausch wouldn't be bad drive from there that's close to 81 in pine grove get on 81 from exit 100 then Get off at ravine witch is exit 105 the Rausch is only like 5 mins from there

I've been to a couple family campgrounds and as long as you aren't disturbing other people you can drink as much as you want. Just specifically ask if you can get a secluded site. Besides I can't see too many people out camping with their families right now.

Just have less sodas and save it for that night. Think about it, no fire all night. I think that's going to limit people from staying up and hanging out. Where's the fun in that?

I know what you mean but we're not allowed to drink on the trails anyway. Even if it is a beautiful clear night, it still sucks to stand around in the dark (or lantern/fog light). I don't want to have to drive an hour but less than half an hour shouldn't be that bad and then we can get our drink on around a fire.

If theres others that think we should still camp at rausch, maybe there could be a group that stays there and a group that goes to a campground.

google maps says 18 minutes from rausch to twin grove.. that seems decent.

Especially w/ my g/f and my dog and anyone else bringing a woman, I think keeping them warm and in good spirits will be a lot easier in the rain if we have a fire. plus it will give them real toilets instead of RC portapottys.

I've always been against camping somewhere else during RC events, but this is enough of a reason I think.

I'll try to remember to bring mine.

I'm with you on this one. I'd rather drive to a camp ground.

Let's see what Mike comes up with today. Maybe we should get a head count of who wants to camp outside of RC so he knows what to look for.

Lol dude it's 9 AM, most people are just getting to work and most places aren't even open yet. :p I'm in meetings till ten thirty but researching while in it. All our money is on Twin Grove right now, best option in Lebanon county, but I did find a couple in Berks county that are a little further from Rausch.

I just called twin grove which is about 20 minutes from rausch.

All of their tent sites are available.

They are in Lebanon county so fires are allowed.

They are $21/night per campsite- 2 vehicles per site. If more than 2 adults a a site it's $8 per extra adult.

So example- 1 camp site- 4 adults- $37 a night.

Let's start a head count for who will be camping outside of rausch. Twin grove campground- http://www.twingrove.com/index.php?pr=Home
If you're bringing anyone people or vehicles besides yourself please list. This way we can try to figure out how many sites we'll need and we can share sites to save some $.

Lmao I literally just got off the phone with Cathy too.

Additional details: Better to reserve, if you are showing up before 6PM Friday, then you don't need to but if you show up after then they will leave a packet out for you if you reserve.

Check in is 3 PM, Check out is 1 PM.

Quiet hours are 11PM - 8AM, and considering there is currently no one on tent sites right now, I don't think this will be an issue.

Also alcohol is allowed on camp sites, just can't be roaming with open alcoholic beverages (going to facilities and what not).
