The rain stopped long enough to make these images of my '010. It's a 2.7L/5-speed SR5 2WD, two days and forty-six miles in my hands.

Toyota does NOT like building these. They prefer automatics. I suspect that CAFE and EPA mandates will push Toyota to eliminate manuals in the next few years, as Ford did in its F-150 line.

I first discussed this purchase with my dealer during late june. I understood how the model year transition would delay things, so waiting more than 100 days for delivery was no big deal.

Interest rates have just begun to rise.

Toyota continues to play with option package content. It's nice that, contrary to sales propaganda, a steering wheel wrapped in dead cow is included with the manual. The backup camera/mirror is surprisingly useful but tailgate removal will be a PITA. Negative stuff: consumers are "forced" to buy floor mats ($179) and daytime running lamps ($40) with the SR5. I'd prefer Weather Techs but this is almost trivial against a $21K purchase price.

At least at my dealer, if you order a unit you WILL pay sticker/MSRP. There must be something about how Toyota manages inventory that drives the whole manual transmission/special order situation.

Step bars/running boards, tonneau cover, wheel/tire mods, etc are to follow.

This is a "happy truck". I'm very pleased with its power, handling, etc. The interior features are astounding for someone whose first new Tojo was a '77 FJ-40 Land Cruiser!

There were quite a few upgrades from '08 to '09. Traction control, roll over control, 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, side air bags, electronic limited slip differential, etc.

Where there any substantive changes from '09 to '10?

My three kids have two 4cyl/5spd/AC PreRunners, '08 & '09, and an '09 4cyl/5spd/AC SR5. Do you see a pattern? They ARE different colors: red, blue & green.

The only differences between these others and the '010 are minor content changes like the steering wheel cover and backup mirror/camera. I'd like to think that the spring/shock TSB and melt-down audio systems have been "handled".

I live in the Dayton area.
