Update, the 2024 Tacoma RC60F does have the correct input shaft length, and the 2016-2023 RC62F shifter will fit as well. If you're looking to go RC60F, this is probably the way to go, pending price release.

This transmission will have enough demand that Toyota will require a vin # to procure one.

Requiring a VIN for release of a part like a transmission for something like a Tacoma would be extremely unusual.

My plan is to cancel the RC61F order and wait for the new trans to hit dealers. I’ll 100% do it unless the price is just absolutely absurd. I only wish it was the RC61F over the RC60F, but oh well. Beggars can’t be choosers. More reason to go back to small tires.

Just for curiosity’s sake, are you able to tell if it has the same 33311-26110 input shaft part number from the Hiace, or did they come up with a new part?

They were doing it for the Pro grill for a while.

Yes, there are lots of parts that require a VIN to order, for various reasons like being a special package, etc. Technically TRD Pro grilles are not factory parts either.

There’s a lot of nuance, but it’s unlikely this would require a VIN for release.

It’s a Tacoma-specific part number, which may or may not be surprising because the Tacoma/Hilux RC are made in Thailand, and the Hiace RC is made in Japan.

I mean dealers don't get to keep big parts like that. They have to order every single one of them. Whether it's for a job or a customer just buying through them. For smaller things. Yes, they'll have an in-house stock but not for big things like engines and transmissions and body panels, etc.

I’m aware of that, but none of these that have been available (pre 4th gen) are domestic anyways. There is still a solid chance the RC61F I ordered will get denied at some point. It’s only in the US system because it goes to Mexico.

The one I ordered was going to require buying an input shaft and immediately tearing down the new trans to swap in that input. Now that 4th gen transmission will be available soon and will be bolt in, that’s a much better option so I am fine with not getting the 5th gear I want in order to get a bolt in US-available transmission.

I've been searching for the RC60F multiple times daily on the parts site.... @Jeff Lange any idea when they might make the new truck's catalog live? :)

Because getting a newer one with that transmission here is damn near impossible.

You would just get junkyard used garbage, and take transmission out.

Like people buy flooded cars from US in EU and then take it apart and sell it

2024 transmission will be bolt in and available from US parts site, so it’s a better solution now anyways. The Hilux trans requires disassembly.
