    My shit is all stock.
I would be extremely surprised if you’re able to grab this trans for $2580. Which is under dealer net for this part. If it happens it would be the selling dealer making good on a website error, bad quote, or something like that. Based on the current price, an employee at my (ex) dealership would be paying $2920 plus tax.

I am excited to learn that this transmission is an option for us older-gen guys. I wish it was a thing back when I was doing my swap.

I mean 2900-3100 is what they go for year-round at most dealerships that have an online catalog…but does the Black Friday sale not factor into the validity of my price? Back when Black Friday was active, do you know what an employee would have been able to get one for? Outside of Black Friday or Labor Day, I’ve only been able to achieve $3100 or so plus tax which gets quite expensive.

So far it seems like this order is a go, but we’ll see. They have given me no indication at all that there is any issue with price or any intention to cancel it. As far as I can tell, I’m simply waiting on freight to get it here. I’m going to ask for a status update on Monday, the guy who works parts on Saturday doesn’t do any online stuff and so he couldn’t help me yesterday.

The black Friday deal is from Toyota USA, so it’s off the dealer net. Knowing that, this is possible.

Well, I’ve got my fingers crossed for ya @BLtheP

In my 27 years that I spent peddling Toyota parts, I don’t remember them ever doing a program like that where they would discount parts across the board for Black Friday or anything of the sort. Pretty cool. I wish I’d known about it. I could use a few bits that, even at c+10, I refuse to buy.

It’s an online-only thing. I’ve got some great deals that way.

I took advantage of that sale on all the clutch parts as well. Got about $900 worth of parts for $530ish. I’m only at 60K and definitely don’t need them, but I’d really kick myself if I didn’t refresh all of it in there and then ended up having a problem. I’m trying to not go back into the bellhousing for a long time after this swap. I don’t think the clutch was in bad shape at all but you never know with the throwout bearing when it may start to slip on the pressure plate. So I’m going with all new.

I got a better deal on the flywheel as well through PartSouq instead of Toyota. They must get Toyota parts cheaper overseas or something because even with shipping I got it cheaper than the black Friday deal on local pickup.

Considered a heavy flywheel but with such low gearing in 1-3, I felt it might get annoying waiting on the engine to rev down even longer. Maybe next time depending on how it all goes after this time.

Are they legit? I use that site to get part numbers but with their prices, I assumed there was some swaparoo, counterfeit, or "OEM Equivalent" sort of thing going on.

The Toyota online parts sales have been absolutely HUGE for me. With the right dealer on a 25% sale, I'm something like 56% off list on a ton of stuff; then the 6% sales tax is also saved on top of that, AND I don't even pay shipping?! I'm 5 figures deep with my 99.6% OEM bumper to bumper refresh and don't regret a dime of it at that rate..

I’ve only ordered from them once before, which was an 8.75” diff pinion flange and a third member gasket. Both were fully legit. Looked exactly like the original parts and had all the right stickers.

The downside to PartSouq is they don’t have everything. A ton of stuff I search there either turns up no results or comes back with a not available. And on lower cost parts that are available, the shipping might be too much to be worth buying that cheaper part. This time it worked out though because the flywheel in the US is a ridiculous cost ($545). When it’s $250 + $150 shipping at PartSouq, it makes sense.

And I agree, the Black Friday sales are huge. If there is anything that comes up that I want but don’t need, I’m going to put it on a list and wait until next year. I didn’t really want anything besides the transmission this year but I definitely will want more random stuff next year, so I may as well be ready to make a purchase at that time. Those huge sales will always beat my normal go to (Sparks Parts or Longo Prosper).

Interesting; thanks for the detail. It is kind of hit or miss what they do have, which is annoying though.

And man, it was so tempting to get the FJC transfer case for a manual this year, if only I had more time to do homework on what it takes to make it work; fulltime AWD with center locking viscous diff...ohhh Black Friday, make my Tacomaru hybrid dreams come true...add that to a 4G transmission and I might just live in the thing (well, might need to after my wife kicks me out of the house).

I want to get that same transfer case, I’m just scared of the driveshaft length issues. For you you could use shafts from the auto and you’d be good to go.

I still kind of want to get the manual tcase from the auto which is easier to adapt since it’s the proper length. But I’d much prefer full time 4wd instead of a part timer. If I’m staying part time I almost may as well leave it electronic.

Toyota parts prices vary by market, but I’ve used Partsouq and Amayama many times without issue.

You’re likely giving up quite a bit on the warranty side though, just to be aware.

@Jeff Lange since the flywheel will be replaced, I am looking into the torque spec on that which is 22 ft lbs + 90°. They advise to use Toyota adhesive 1324, or equivalent. The bolts come with some red dry thread locker looking stuff on them already. Think that’s still correct to put wet stuff on there as well? Seems odd, but they do say to wait an hour after that before continuing on with the engine starting so I guess it’s semi serious. Just odd that the bolts also have a coating if they intend to use the sealant stuff.

I’m going to make my own thread at some point so I don’t end up clogging @Jowett thread with my stuff. It would be super cool to see the swapped input RC60F or RC61F…so this thread should return to that topic. Especially with pics of that process. I actually really wish I could get the RC61F plug and play (I want the lower 5th for towing), but this will have to do lol.

The 33030-04080 part number comes with a backup light switch, bellhousing, slave cylinder, release fork, release fork boot, throwout/release bearing, input revolution sensor (for iMT), and the extended shifter housing for fitting the T24A-FTS. The backup light switch is the same one our trucks use, so it’s plug and play. This is actually perfect because mine is going bad and I’ve been putting off replacing it. I bought the part but kept holding out in case the transmission swap happened. It did, so now I have a spare and don’t need to do the work to change it. Although I have to do the work to swap transmissions, so

None of the bellhousing/slave/TOB stuff will work for us at all. Completely different design for how all the hydraulics attach. I wish this would work, because I prefer this type of release fork design, but ah well.

the extended shifter housing will be removed as well, as previously discussed throughout the thread. The RC62F shifter will drop straight down in place and so I bought a gasket for that.

The input revolution sensor will stay in place to plug the hole they made for it. I’m not sure if our slave cylinder fluid line will interfere or not, if it does I’ll cut some of the plastic plug off the sensor. I don’t think it will be a problem.

Hope to install it in the 7 days I’m off for Christmas. I’ll make a thread at that point so this one can go back to being dedicated to Jowett’s progress.

Super pumped for this and so grateful to everyone who has shared helpful info on the subject. I wouldn’t have any info or any will to dive into anything like this without this fantastic thread.

Anyways, since everybody loves parts porn, here are some photos.

    In all her glory :)

    IMG_0083.jpg

Input shaft length - it is perfect. @Jowett previously told me in private messages that his stock trans measures roughly 146mm. This one is the exact same. Kudos to Jeff for finding that this should work and thanks to Brian for confirming!

    IMG_0097.jpg

Release fork, TOB, inside bellhousing. All will be removed for this.

    IMG_0089.jpg

Slave cylinder that will be removed. I like the backwards design where it pushes back on the fork which pushes the TOB forward. Fulcrum is in the middle.

    IMG_0090.jpg

Input revolution sensor. There is a hole for this so it will stay. They use it for iMT on the 2024. Our slave cylinder brake line might interfere but I don’t think so. Will report back.

    IMG_0087.jpg

Rear view. Tcase should bolt straight up problem. Got a new o-ring to seal the t-case to that void (covered by protective shipping cover)

Just my thoughts on this. The manual typically is for service and would describe reusing the bolts. So you would apply the thread locking compound. The torque though is torque to yield and that usually means one time use. Does the manual specify new bolts at all?

It does not specify new bolts that I can see. Which is surprising, I thought flywheels are almost always TTY. But that adhesive instruction would make sense if it was geared towards reusing them. I bought new so definitely going to just roll with those.

The threadlocker application it definitely for bolt reuse. You are doing it the better way though. You don't need bolts snapping off after doing the swap.
