Put my switch in yesterday. The write up was right on the money! The only thing I did different was the soldering on the 4x4 switch, I didn't do that part,I used the plug. I'll get a pic of it tonight.

The hardest part for me was getting the ac switch unit out, my passenger airbag switch got in the way of popping the other side out.

Again rcbs YOU DA MAN for figuring this out!!!

I have a bunch of pre-built units now in all colors. So any order that is received ships immediately. Also, i have had time to get the Amber color absolutely perfect. So for the really finicky few that want the absolute exact match it is done. The Amber is what is shipping from now on unless someone asks for the brighter red which i still have.

UPDATE: Oh Dear, I got a ton of people PM'ing me about the old and new Stock Colors, There is very very little difference. I cannot replace every bodies switches, That will absolutely break the entire bank, and i will be doing this entire thing in the negative and losing hundreds of dollars. I changed it because i was trying to please all the people, not to make my life impossible. As there was little to no bank to speak of anyway. yes i made a little money on this, but not enough to really pay off the house or even one months mortgage payment. If i was to truly figure it out with my labor and time spent on this project, i probably would be in the barely break even category. So i am a really nice guy, but i will be drawing the line at that request so don't ask.

Its like asking one of the big corporations for a new car because they came out with a little better model.

    Thanks for your support,
    R

I spoke with rcbs and held out for amber, so I am currently in possession of the "Stock Red" color. If anyone wants it Ill send it your direction for $15 shipped. PM me.

I put mine in a couple days ago using the soldering method - looks great. Problem now is that my far right a/c switch (the one that controls which vents to output to) no longer lights up. I haven't took it back apart yet to see what went wrong but if you guys have any ideas before I do please let me know.

    Thanks

Mine does that too now and then. Try smacking the front of the controls firmly. Not enough to break it, but more than a tap. lol Mine comes back on when I do that. Too lazy to figure out wtf is wrong.

This is actually a really common problem, there are two little wires on the two bulbs that light up the AC controls. They make very poor contact, i put little solder on the pads and has never happened again.

Wow I wish I would've thought about that! I went the hardest route possible... I was outside throwing blankets over the windows trying to see if it lit up. Eventually it got dark and I could see the lights

Thanks for the idea! I figured it was something stupid like that. I switched the bulbs from one side to another at one point, and the problem followed. I was just too lazy to pull it out again and investigate further. But I'm sure you've had yours out quite a bit!

It's nice that you got the color exact but honestly the old stock red is good enough for me. Nobody is going to notice the difference unless you point it out and ask them to study it or something. I'm fine with it and wouldn't ask to exchange it.

Got mine together and works great. The worse part for me was getting the switch apart with out breaking the tabs. Once I got that done the rest was a snap!!

I broke 2 tabs and I was careful. It still went back together and stayed together.

But then I'm used to working on laptops that are snapped together....

6% Tint all around, Toyota all-weather floor mats, Toyota bed extender and skid plate, Python 991 remote-start alarm, oem cruise control and class III hitch were all installed within a couple months. I then installed Icon c/o's and Icon's 3-leaf aal with 17x9" GA9's and 285/70/17 Goodyear Duratrac's. The DRL mod was done, as was a custom rack setup similar to the org. cross bars. Blacked out headlights bought online, and a BOSS 1500 under-seat sub installed along with a Pioneer double-din DVD player
Can someone post a pic of the white numbers and amber arrow switch? I want to see what it looks like with all the other dash lights lit, so the pic has to include all of that. Thanks!
