have you tried fixing your pinion angle?

I had this same problem, but around 45-50. very very annoying. I ended up trying a 1.5 degree shim between the rear spring and axle, it helped the vibs went from 45-47. so i went to a 2.25 degree shim and the vibs came and went at 45. so i went to a 3.5 degree shim and I have no vibrations anymore. we cant fix pinion angle anymore with the carrier bearing so you have to go to the axle. you also have to be careful you do not go to much or you will get to much axle wrap from take off.

also, you guys with the rcd, by any chance can you measure from the ground to the wheel opening? im curious how much more height you guys have than from my setup. im thinking i want to install the rcd in the front.

    thanks!

my blocks are already degree'd but you dont want to turn it too much mainly because of oil. rear ends are made at a certain angle to keep all the gears and bearings and seals coated in oil when in motion to prevent premature wear mainly due to heat.. Dont forget that

which i agree with, you do not want to go to extreme. how much are the blocks angled? do you know?
also anyway you can measure the distance from the ground to the wheel opening front and rear?

anyone can give front height and rear height on a level surface as measured from Fender to Center of wheel hub, to be unaffected by tire size?

    Thanks

Alright guys this may be off in left field but what kinda gas mileage are you getting on your taco with this lift?

I have 285/70/17's FCII's and Its hard for me to get anything over 16MPG. I have the RCD lift, those tires^^, I have an AEM Brute Force Intake and a Dynomax exahust, Tonno cover. I just cant seem to get anymore fuel mileage out of it. I get pretty consistantly 15.6-15.8 mpg I dont really let my truck warm up in the mornings for work. Maybe 1 minute and im off driving, I dont run defrost unless I absolutely have to, most roads that Im on are 40-50 mph I stay easy on the gas, Im not an agressive driver and most of my driving now is highway and that pretty constant at 50-60 mph, no stop and go traffic. I just opened my own business and am now driving more then normal to meetings and what not and my gas mileage right now is killing me.. Any suggestions guys? Or what type of mileage are you getting?

running 45PSI, I go off of tire specifications. I dont have alot of junk in my truck either I have my ball and ball mount but not toting around any serious weight. Evening hauling my boat I still get 15 MPG and its a 18ft fiberglass Cobia. I mean i have the double cab short bed. Did front diff, rear diff, and tranfsercase, and even did a drain and refill of tranny with all Synthetic fluids (redline of course)

did you do anything to change your speedo after the tire change? i know going from a 265 to a 285 isnt much but it will change your odometer and thus change your mpg calculations some. keep that in mind

something so minor of that will not change it at all. I do however want to take my exhaust off and see if that helps my fuel mileage

285/70R17 are 7% larger than 265/65R17's, thus making them travel 7% farther (7% better fuel mileage).

    15.8 x 1.07 = 16.9 mpg

I dunno about that formula^ Do you have any proof to back that up? another thing is when it was stock I was still only getting 15.8 before the lift and before the wheels and tires and before my intake an exhaust

    265 circum. = 96.02 in
    285 circum. = 102.76 in

    difference = 6.74 in
    6.74/96.02 = 0.07 or 7% so the 285s go 7% farther per revolution

your odometer is based on revolutions so if it thinks it goes 300 miles, you actually go 321 miles

say it took 19 gal to do this
what you calculated is: 300/19 = 15.8 mpg
but you should have calculated 321/19 = 16.89 mpg

    16.89/15.8 = 1.07

multiplying your original calculated mpg of 15.8 mpg x 1.07 = 16.9 mpg. This gives the same result as adding the extra traveled distance and dividing by the fuel used

i don't know why your un-lifted mileage was still 15.8, but i suspect your driving habits have changed (which is likely since you are now concerned about your mileage and driving more)

Good math I dunno where you came up with that but Bravo!!! no I had the truck for at least 3 months and thats what my mileage was driving habits were the same of course after I put the intake on I had a heavy foot at times to listen to the intake but not all the time I still dunno If all that is true but that would mean my odometer will be off from here on out. BTW I thought toyota calculated its speed/odometer from the transmission

i think its actually the transfer case but either way, its based on rpm's of the output shaft (of the transmission or transfer case) and they factor in the gear ratio and tire size. So if you change the tire height or gear ratio (anything to change the overall drive ratio), it makes your odo off by the same percent change in rotations.

taller tires will make you go farther than the odo "thinks" (so you will calculate lower mpg than actual)

Lower gear ratio will make you not go as far as the odo "thinks" (so you will calculate higher mpg than actual)

so if you put a 7% larger tire on but lowered the gear ratio by 7%, they would offset each other (keeping the overall drive ratio the same) and the odo would still be dead on

^^^ Does anyone else agree with this? Or is anyone else getting the same results as I am?

I agree. 100%. That was what I was trying to tell you without giving you the math. Tire size makes a big difference. No matter how minor you may think it is.
