it will probably sit a little nose high because the kit uses a 4 inch block

I have the same shudder. Good to know others have it as well. I reduced the carrier drop by half and it seemed to help a bit and get rid of the clunk from the driveshaft upon a hard stop and start again.

Do you think the shudder is caused by a slight axle wrap situation? Would a different leaf pack help stiffen up the axle wrap?

probably everyone says blocks cause axle wrap but they're guys that run bigger blocks than us so we should be ok, i would think.

    Too few to list.
If I get this lift, I'm getting a 1 piece driveshaft. I'm really waiting for www.cstsuspension.com to make a lift for our trucks though...

seeing this lift is making me question whether i want the OME lift or not. can i use this kit with 16'' wheels? (they are 4.5'' BS)

there is also a downside to everything. with the 3'' lifts, there's the cv angles and vibes, and with the 6'' lifts you have to regear, terrible gas mileage, etc. so what are the downsides of this lift? since i am considering a $1800 decision, i would like to know anything you guys experience. i have already read the first 8 pages and saw the cutting is required and the 4'' blocks don't sit too well with me either.

it says you have to have 17 inch wheels but you could make your 16s fit if you're willing to do some trimming. down side is that if you do serious off roading its possible to smack the db on a rock.

ok, i didn't see anything about the wheel size for sure except the 4.5'' BS. and i don't do much serious off-roading, but with all of that sort of hanging down, it seems like it could easily hit something when off roading. no offense intended, but most of these rcd trucks seem like they spend most of their time on the pavement (and that's fine), but if any of you do any serious off-roading, how is it working out for you? any contact on the underside? how does that huge block ride? is it going to beat me to death on a dirt road?

yes my truck is mainly on roads but everytime if offroaded i've never smacked it. i think the block is fine but a leaf pack is the way to go if you can afford.

    Alright, thanks.

Are there any problems down the road with an RCD or any drop bracket lift that you should watch out for?

Thou I like the look of the RCD lift, I dropped the drop bracket idea (any drop bracket) when I read cutting the frame was required, once you cut it there is no going back.

I'll save may pennies and get the Allpro LT to get the 4" lift an be more off road capable

    Just my opinion

Hey guys Im newer to the forum and I want to buy this rcd 4.5 inch lift also.. I already have my wheels an tires ordered them about a month ago.. I got the TRD FJ cruiser anthracite 16x7.5 (from what trd says 4.75 inch back spacing) wheels and Dick Cepek Fun County II's in a 285/75/16 (33x11.50x16) is anyone running this type of setup with their rcd kit? Some incite would be appreciated. Did you guys install this liftkit yourself? roughly how long did it take you and have you done other lifts before? I have White 07 double cab trd sport with that being said from what I have read I will not even be able to bolt my 17's on just to drive into the shop to pick up my 33"s that will be mounted on the 16" TRD fj wheels. Am I understanding this correctly?

I had a BDS 4 1/2 lift on my tundra with Icon's all around. Loved it - no problems at all and the ride was pretty good.

BDS does not have anything over 2.5 inch for our Tacoma's yet (05-11) but they are in the works. There rep stopped in 2 weeks ago and I told him he needs to do something because there is a large market there. He said yes there is a hole there, but its in process.

Anywho I'm soon to join the club RCD! Just got my kit in yesterday to work, now just convincing some of my techs to help me out and bang this job out in like 5 hrs :). All I'm waiting on is my tires to come in from Dick Cepek

P.S. What wheels are some of your guys running. like what size and width and backspacing. I got the TRD FJ SE wheels sitting in my garage which is a 16x7.5 with 4.75 inches of back spacing. Now I know RCD reccomends a 16x8 or 17x8 with 4.5 inches of back spacing but with the not as wide of a wheel and slightly more backspacing it equals out to the same. Just trying to see what some of your guys input is here.
