    Hi all!
I purchased a super clean, 1.5-owner '04 Tacoma back in September and I'm wondering about the struts that the original owner installed. They're Bilstein struts that are tagged with "RCD Suspension" and I've not been able to find much info about them. The guy I bought the truck from only had it for about 5 weeks after buying it from the orig. owner and I haven't been able to track him down. They *look* to have lifted the front about an inch or so. Anyone know anything about them?

I’ve always wondered what the difference is between the RCD and regulat 5100’s?

There is none, RCD, is just a reseller with a high enough volume that they add their own stickers/lables.

Excellent, thank you for the info! And thanks @LanceRN for the link! I'd done a 2.757 second Google search a while back and had not come up with the Performance Lifts page. I found RCD's site, but the link you sent had much more info about them.

FWIW, the truck drives and handles much nicer than the handful of Gen1 Tacomas I drove before I found this one. It could use a lower ball joint refresh, but otherwise it's smooth and tracks straight.

    Thanks again!

I know this is from April but they are supposedly slightly different than normal 5100's.

    "
    Front Shocks:

    • Bilstein 5100 1st Gen Tacoma Front Strut
    • Race Car Dynamics Shock(Original shock built for Bilstein before they created their own 3rd Gen 4Runner shock)More information can be foundHERE
    • Both shocks are a great option! The RCD shocks have slightly more travel (0.1") and will provide slightly more lift (very minimal). Both shocks work well paired with the spring options below."

Nice! Thanks for the added info @taco2uesday! Very helpful! I was crawling under it earlier today and I'm 99% sure it's got the rear setup as well (that's advertised in the link you sent). As I mentioned earlier, the truck rides quite nice, sits super level and performs well with the bed loaded down.

I have the RCD 5100s on mine too.

Just as a side note. If you ever off road it, it rides 100x better if you disconnect the front sway bar. Make sure to reconnect for the road.
