just incase you buy a cvt tent that is 3 person or bigger or any of the rtt that is for 3 plus people it will not work with a standard size rci bed rack, and I am sure its the same as cbi, with out a lot of overhang.

***THIS THREAD IS NOT TO KNOCK OR SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT EITHER OR ANY OTHER COMPANY***

the rci bed rack is great, fits and install is great and easy. I am going to post more pics up soon, (Monday or Tuesday) making a custom extended mount that will bolt to the bottom of the bed (edge) where the bed loops are (each corner at the edge of bed) . and hope this will help others if you plan to buy a bigger tent or already have a bigger then and have a lot of overhang.

I was just going to ask - can the rack not be slid back further to even out the overhang fore and aft?

even if I did it mounts on the rails, I don't have much space to move it anyways. I am making an additional brace for it, I will post pics.

See if you can center the bed rack more in the bed. Other than that well yeah it's a short bed.

You're going to want to do that extension soon. From the looks of this photo, having had some weight on that side looks to have caused your mounting tracks to bend a little and come away from the tent floor at the edge. Leads me to think there is quite a lot of flex - that can't be good for the tent.

Yeah, it's a big investment. Definitely want to protect it! By the way, I really wanted that tent for the space, but ended up going Mt Shasta because ... short-bed. Properly supported, and with a swing-out plate bumper to fill the "void", that will look pretty slick!

So, I have this same problem as I have the same tent and the 3 bed bars from Relentless Fab. I am going to go talk to Eric and see if he can make a small adjustment for me. If I can make it work, I will post it here so u can see my solution.

I have the Mt. hood. An older model. Its the same size. I initially had it on Thule bars and Inno bed stays. Worked fine. I have since had it on two different 'one off' bed racks that run the full length of the short bed. The little bit that overhangs is not an issue when the rack runs all the way to the end. That was one of the issues I found with many of the manufactured racks. It seems most stop at the end of the rails.

I've had my Rainier extended summit on since December with no issues.. I'll try and measure how far from the cab my rack is placed but it looks similar to yours, I've just got my tent moved more cab forward. It kinda sucks for the tail/"cargo" light, but I installed LED strips under my bed rails on a switch so I can see the bed now. Tent looks real close but there's no contact with the cargo light or cab. Zipping up is also more of a chore but it works, happy to have the extra tent space! There's another 3rd Gen on here running a big tent on a DCSB and RCI rack but he's using the LB rack kinda modified, I'll see if I can find his build and link it. Does your swing out come off the bed rack or bumper? Never seen a set up like yours! Future plans for mine were hopefully a swing out bumper w full size spare but I think my current overhang kills it, unless I get a higher rack, shell, or smaller tent. Ha!

The swing out is attached to the bed rack. The bed rack is attached to four of the bed mounting bolts and also to the rails.
I think you would still clear a spare unless you're planning on running 35s or greater.

Why not just get a wheel spacer and use that? Between the swing out and a big wheel spacer, I bet you will clear.
