Just received my rack, so far very happy putting it together. Very easy simple and sturdy. Well packages etc.

My only question is why only 6 locking washers when there's 15 carriage bolts for the top piece, and side plates? Where are the 6 lock washers supposed to go. Right now I split them 3 per side along the top of the side plates.

So the lock washers go with the bolts that attach the cross members to the track system into the slider nuts. All the other washers go to the other bolts and use nylock nuts. Sorry if the install instructions are a little confusing but it sounds like you have it mounted to the truck. That's awesome. Post up some pictures when its all out fitted with your gear. Thumbs up.

Roger. After I installed it, I realized that the 6 bolts for the rails probably are the ones with the 6 lock washers... Oh well. That was the only part that wasn't clear in the instructions (not that you really need em, it's a very simple design for those who may read this later)

The Instructions stated to mount the side panels with carriage bolts with "washers, lockwashers and nuts on the back side. Hand Tighten..." So thats what misled me. Good thing I suppose it doesn't really matter- those side panels aren't ever going to rattle loose now! Lock washers AND nylocs.

Racks solid AF, I'm around 190 pounds and can jump up and down on the thing violently and it doesn't budge.

Been sending business your way RCI! I run your rack full time on my truck and almost Everytime I'm a gas station someone comes over to check it and check how sturdy it is.

For anyone wandering, thing is sturdy, I've bombed through the AZ desert and done some interesting trails with the RTT attached and the rack doesn't budge.

do any of you have a sleek way of locking the bed rack so it doesn't get stolen?

Yea whenever you dont have nylock that's when you should use lock washers. They act as a spring so the bolts dont loosen over time.
If you use nylocks you dont need the lock washers since the plastic on the nylock will prevent them from loosening over time.
    Just installed mine.
    I'll add the tent tomorrow.

Edit: not an RCI rack but same concept with the lock washers.

    Sorry just saw this!

Almost all RTT's use T-Slot on the bottom of the tent that allow a bolt to be slid in anywhere across the length of the tent, and usually utilize six bolts. Our rack has slotted holes in all three cross-members allowing any tent to literally just be set on top and bolted down. No modification, no funny business, simple as can be.

I just changed the way I mount my rtt to my rack, I’m gonna test it out to see if it will give me any trouble or not. 3F3CE1BD-7A03-4A23-AE4D-036E668EC405.jpg

So far so good, I check on it from time to time and it hasn’t budged. I’m happy with it. Also I think it looks a lot cleaner this way
