So I installed my skids the a few days ago and yesterday while doing some mild offroading I kept hearing a big clunk in the back. I just crawled under my truck to try to figure out what was happening and found this. It looks like the corner of my gas tank skid is hitting the rear diff skid. Anyone know what I did wrong? Are these skids not compatible for some reason?

My RCI diff and gas skids look nothing like those.

I also have a DCLB 2nd gen. Mine are not even close to each other.

As close as those ar I would expect banging. Your rear end moves a lot when flexing.

My truck is in the shop getting a new rear diff right now... ironically.

I’ll have to see if I have any photos on my PC.

What is strange is it seems like my gas tank is further back than in this picture from RCI's website. The skid isn't extending beyond the gas tank at all really.

I can't find any photos of my rear right now. My gas tank skid definitely has never touched the diff skid though. I know that for sure. LOL My rear diff skid has taken a beating though! At least the powder coat has. Although I've removed mine for the time being since I'm having rear diff issues.

Ya I am pretty sure they are not supposed to hit haha. Good luck with the diff issues and let me know if you figure out my incompetence.

Is your fuel tank skid attached to the fuel tank straps? Make sure that somehow it has not slid backward. I know my fuel tank had grooves in it for the straps. I doubt your fuel tank has moved backward but would be easy to tell.

You are not incompetent! Mine did the exact same thing. Called RCI, told me they had changed the design of the gas tank skid since I bought mine. Didn’t want to deal with the diff skid anymore. Was already sketched out that it was going to slip on the yolk and fuck up the driveline. They sent me a new gas tank skid as replacement. It was no different then my original. They told me they moldeled the diff skid off the previous generation.

That's pretty disappointing. I've liked my other RCI stuff but I can't say I am happy about this. Anyone want to buy an almost new RCI diff skid with some small scratches?

Very disappointing, but actually noticed my truck runs better without the diff skid. My advice, contact rci and arrange some sort of refund/swap. Even if for another gas tank skid which you could sell a lot easier.
