Okay, so new update they are sending me the diff drop cage free of charge, minus shipping. Hell of a lot better than buying a whole new skid. Just gotta cut the hole and weld it on, and I should be good to go. Not as pretty as the flat setup, but its functional at least. Glad RCI pulled through.

Glad you got it worked out but we still don't know if you bought from RCI direct or not, so correct me if im wrong. My theory is you bought it from a local store in Sin City. They informed you it fit a 3rd gen Tacoma. My guess is that store doesn't have intimate product knowledge and didn't know there was a new version since. Could have been sitting on a shelf for awhile who knows. You bought the older version and contacted RCI about the clearance of your diff.

Ok that clears some things up. Glad they did the right thing. Just curious what happened that made them change their minds? Last thing we knew is that they wouldn't budge and had "screwed" you over. :notsure:

I refused to use spacers again, and I asked for the diff cage, they said sure not a problem. I also let them know I made a thread on here about it and no one else reported having this issue, maybe that's what did it. Either way, they didn't give me a hard time at all when I asked for the diff cage.

I haven't looked at mine yet, but will. That diff cage seems like it's meant specifically for someone running a diff drop. It's ugly as hell.

I just looked at mine. Seems like it’s really close. Too close to say its not touching. If it is touching what is the negative impact of using washers for more space? I also have the trans plate and am about to get sliders and transferplate skid. This might change where I get them from.

That cage is going to collapse first time you bring down the front end on a rock.

See, this is a reputable company. Follows a thread not even about them and still offers input. Where is RCI??? :notsure:

I only saw it because I was tagged in it and thought something was wrong with something on our end. We get the common question: "Do your sliders work with RCI skids?" Figured it was something of that nature.

A company isn't required to post in every armor thread on Tacomaworld, or at all to be considered a reputable dealer. Especially in a online forum. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I have been to their place of operation countless times throughout the years and can tell you from FIRST HAND experience they are good people and really do put out awesome stuff.

If you go through coarse sand or gravel and kick it up on top of the plate, it could cause a grinding problem between your diff and plate if its that close. If you need more room, look into steel collar spacers or aluminum spacers at your local hardware store.

At least it wont take my diff with it, it is steel and would take a huge impact to bend all the way to my diff. If I destroy the skid I buy another, its better than buying a diff.
