I Prefer the skid to be mounted evenly distributed vs focused on 2 spacers. Its the reason I don't want a body lift either. It compromises it.

Good luck trying to break one of those RCI welds on that bump out.

Yes but let's talk about the clearance that's lost for those who don't run diff drops. You now have a tumor on your skip plate for no reason.

You want a small cage lower or the entire plate lower?

Btw, y’all that are bashing this company NEVER took a peak behind those welded butts to see if full penetration was accomplished on both ends. I never said they were pretty. But I inspected them before I gave it the okay to go on a truck I am going to be wheelin’. I saw no need to have to grind off the welds/finish. I’m not going to be underneath admiring it. It’s obvious one wants to get paid and the others have their money tied up elsewhere.

There's a lot of bashing on RCI's product in here when there's a really simple fix. Buy their transmission skid . It'll drop your IFS skid 3/16"

You did realize I have all 3 skids right, 4 if you include their gas skid

Not bashing any company, but I think the quality of craftsmanship shows how much pride a company takes in their product. Some of the welds I saw on the other thread posted look amateurish at best. I work in a fabrication shop and I understand not every welder have the same level of skills or experience within the shop (hell my welds look like bird shit most of the time), but this is where quality control comes in.
Edit: Every company messes up every now and then. Is how they take care of the customer after the issue that counts. It looks like RCI took care of the customer. Good for them and for the OP

Just checked my RCI skids because of this thread (thank you).

Mine may or may not be hitting as well it’s too close to call (no diff drop and no skid plate damage). Looks like I will be adding some spacers to my front bolts as well to get just a bit of clearance off my front diff.

I'm thinking of using a few spacers too. Also maybe thinking of giving the plate some hammer love to get just a bit of clearance.

If you’re able to hammer the skid plate to the point of where it bends to give you clearance, imagine what will happen if the weight of the truck falls on it. It’ll just bend right back and then some. Short of some serious wailing with a sledge hammer, I don’t think it would bend.

I’ve already put the truck’s weight on it. Hungry Valley, hard granite soil(?) Went over a berm of sort after climbing a short steep hill. Didn’t see the 2 1/2’ drop and the whole right front end dipped down and teeter tottered forward before it came to a stop and rolled back on the part questioned when the momentum stopped and the majority of the weight was now in the rear. A big oh shit moment from the pilot’s seat. Had it in 4LO, put it in reverse, and she backed out with no damage, except a good ‘ol scratch and some paint wear up front. In the rear, the two small horse shoe pieces that I believe are there to protect the bolts (?) caved in a little. The bump out was good to go. I kept wheelin. I don’t rock crawl, but dig climbing steep hills the mostest. It will be good enough for me. You can add reinforcement to the rear of the plate they’ll be sending you. Just make sure you have enough clearance.

Just mounted up a couple 3/8” spacers on the front skid mounting points. Looks like it dropped the plate just enough that I can now see a gap between the diff and the skid. That was the biggest spacer my local hardware store had. It’s good for now. May look for an even bigger one to give just a sliver more space when I come across one. But got it off the diff so I am happy with that.

Ill prob do the same. I have the transmission skid and I think it slips under ther ifs, so its already acting like a shim. When I get some time I’ll add them to mine. Did you need longer bolts? Did you just add to the front or the back too?
