I have on order a bed rack from RCI Metalworks, my question is will this fit with my tonneau cover hardware still attached to my truck bed? I am sure I will find out when it gets here but just deciding if I need to remove this or not. Thank you.

you can just email that company and ask them.alot of them won't work with the tonneau cover simply because of how they need to mount to the bed.

yes, i know it won't work with the cover itself. the hardware is what i am curious about and I am waiting on the company's response. Just curious to see if anyone has experience with this.

Is this the rack you ordered? Just installed it the other day I can answer questions if needed. Don't have a tonneau cover though.

Look at the Mobtown Offroad bed bars. They let you use certain tonneau's with the bars installed. I'll be buying a set later this year.

Just curious as to why guys do this instead of a cap/topper. I'm looking to trade the 1500 Sierra for a Taco and trying figure out how build it out for overlanding. This isn't a flame at all, just genuinely curious. BTW, also considering a 4Runner, as it seems like it might be a bit more agile in switchbacks and better breakover angle.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
Post some more pics once you get to play with it! I want one but man they are expensive!

Do you need to know, or care?
One good reason is 5 foot box doesn't give you a lot of stretch room.

I know what you saying about the topper. I was looking at them but for what I do I'd rather have the bed space without having bedding in there. I like the idea of having the tent up high and all my gear in the bed. My coolers, fishing rods, tackle boxes, biking gear, camping supplies, and whatever else I decide to bring could really crowd the sleeping area in a short box. Especially when you're a chunky guy like myself! I have some led lighting coming for the bed Friday that should really increase functionality of the bed at night with the tent above it. 4Runner is a great rig also! I just like to get off the beaten path for some fishing snd biking. I'm not as interested in a offroad beast, so the taco suits me fine.
