RCI metalworks orders

I'm glad they finally shipped....sheesh! Mine were delivered FedEx on no pallet just boxes they shipped in.

 

To update:
They didn't return my phone inquiry but got back to mea couple days after my post here but I was on a roadtrip and didn't respond.
I requested a refund same day as my post but I did in fact just got confirmation few days ago that they sent it anyway. Welp...
Products look good and bet they're busy of course but they're missing on the customer service side a lot.

 

Glad to hear this of course. It's very possible they had vacation or exigent circumstances come up. But as I mentioned just now: customer service needs a look-see.
Edit to add: CS includes any updates, issues, and delays communicated to the customer as they happen. *Shrug* Know how it goes in theory.

 

Called today got no answer. Sent in an email inquiry. Hopefully they respond. I’m currently on week 7 of waiting for my sliders. Feeling a bit lied to with the “it’s gonna ship soon” I got from them on June 30th. Soon isn’t 2+ weeks in my eyes. Rather have it shot straight at me with the truth.

 

Yeah exactly what I mean. I feel no qualms paying for an American made product. But getting the run around / flat out lie of a response is acid to my bones.

 

I ordered a bed rack @rcimetalworks in mid May what was supposed to be a 5 week lead time became 8 weeks. Perhaps during the pandemic it’s taking a little longer which is understandable. However, the bed rack’s black coating came chipped and scuffed. Not sure if this is how it was sent out of the warehouse or was damages during shipping. Not sure exactly what to do now. Despite those flaws it was worth the wait.

 

The spot where the yellow arrows are pointing at does look a little bit sloppy, I dont think your supposed to see those big blobs there. Hopefully the rock sliders that I ordered from them have good welds when I see them in person.

Edit: Btw you might want to paint over the chipped area of your bed rack with some touch up paint before it starts to rust and spread to the rest of the bed rack or start staining your truck with rust.

 

Ordered awning mounts for a 12" adjustable bed rack, along with a bike mount. The rack is due for completion next week. The mounts arrived today (order # 31937) with at least 2 of the 3 looking like they'd been mounted previously. See the damaged powder coat in the pics below, including on one still in the package.

I sent an email with pics to josh@rci... Hoping that they respond professionally.

I'm all for buying from a fellow Coloradoan, especially in this challenging economy. But if this lack of quality control persists, then I'll be returning my rack and bike mount, too. That'd be a sad day.

 

So they just responded by saying that the blemish in the powdercoat occurs when they hang it on a rack to cure, and that a bolt will cover the blemish.

I can see where they're coming from. But it's a little disconcerting. Maybe I'm overreacting, though.

Props to them for getting back to me within an hour.

 

I picked up my sliders today from the FedEx Freight facility, they did indeed come in a pallet:

They said that I would get a $50 refund if I picked them up at a FedEx Freight facility though and I havent seen the refund posted on my credit card account yet, ill give it another week to see if it post on my account if I wait a little longer. It looks like they did an excellent job of packing it to protect the contents from damage.

 

Alright! Yes, yours look they packaged them up nicely, mine had a few chips I had to touch up but no biggy. Now get to installing!

 

Yup. Sliders ordered May 18. I contacted July 1. They replied that it should ship the following week. I contacted again July 13. No updates yet.

 

you actually got them to answer your call or email?

 

Both. July 1 was email and just yesterday they returned a call, which I missed, then texted me, but nothing since.

 

Lucky you. I Can’t get a response at all.

 

I placed my order end of May for skid plates. Two weeks ago I called and left vmail asking for an update and I also tried their email web form which wouldn't let me send an email (system error on their side). I have not gotten a response from them at all. When ordering, they said it would take 3 weeks for delivery. It will be 2 months end of the week without a word from them.

RCI, please reply when we ask for updates.

 

I called again today and left a voicemail asking what the deal was with my order. Got an email an hour later saying they shipped.

 

Update here. I heard from Jeff. My order from May is targeted to be shipped next week.

 

I wonder what's going on at RCI. The pandemic is messing with supply chains left and right, and the company's personnel may also be affected. So I don't want to make assumptions about the company's desire to operate well. But it seems they should at least make a better effort to communicate with their existing customers.

 

Was this with powder coat or raw metal?
