Picked up my new RCI bumper last night. Started install tonight. Got the old bumper off, harness all disconnected but am stuck getting the stock hitch receiver off. I removed 4 bolts on each side and loosened the bolt in the slot on each side. I have pulled up to get the pin out of its slot but can’t seem to really get it to move after that.

Any tips or recommendations? I have watched more YouTube videos than anyone should every watch on rear bumper replacement and most just gloss over removing the stock hitch.

    Hit it with your purse.

Seriously though, remove all of the frame bolts, push/hit the hitch upward to clear the pins, then smack the hitch towards the rear to knock it off of the truck's frame. Takes some brute force.

I started with a 3 pound dead blow. That didn’t really get anywhere last night. Didn’t want to get the 5# sledge out that late in the evening.

This afternoon the sledge came out and it popped right off. I did give it a squirt of WD40, not sure if it helped but it didn’t hurt.

I have a habit of losing patience with things like this and trying to speed things up with not so great results. That’s why I asked before beating the crap out of it, for once that is what it needed. :bananadance:

New bumper is installed, no issues getting it on.

The deadblow didn't work because it's rubber. It just needed a steel hammer for direct impact energy transfer.
