Picked up my sliders and front skid plate from RCI yesterday.

I choose RCI because I really liked their sliders and skid plates when I saw them at the FJSummit this year in Ouray.

I also wanted to support an FJSummit vendor. Additionally, I think it is super fun to get to pick up locally and see the shop they were built in when ready.

Really cool location for a shop located in the rural Ft.Collins.

I missed saying hello to Josh but upon arrival was greeted by Brian in shipping. And also got to chat with Eric who has a really cool 1st gen 4Runner with a 60 series front axel swap..

The RCI shop is pretty legit and looks like a great set up. Pallets of Aluminum stamped skids waiting to be shaped, nice warehouse organization with lots of skid plates, sliders, bed racks, etc.. on the shelves ready to ship. I was a bit like a kid in the candy store..

Anyway, headed home to Denver and decided to install the sliders last night.

Pretty easy install, only 4 major bolt holes per side, plus one under. You can drill through frame for 2 additional holes in slider plate and I need to do that.

On the driver side, there are two small bolts that stick through the frame for a break relay mount that sits behind the frame. You need to remove that so you can access the slider bolt hole centered between these two. To be able to reinstall this relay, you need to add a couple extra washers to shorten the length of the slider bolt so that it does not inhibit you from remounting the relay. I must have been tired last night because that took me a while to realize a simple solution.

The passenger side was very straight-forward and followed directions perfectly. Again 4 bolt holes like the driver. There are actually 2 more that lined up, as well, but I was tired and skipped adding two additional on the passenger side.

Also the front frame hole, both sides, has a plastic cover plate/plug. I actually missed it at first and then realized it was a plastic plug.

The skid plate was super easy to install and directions were very straight forward and easy to follow.

All in all, easy install, really looks like quality fab work and powder coat finish is very nice, as well.

I highly recommend considering RCI as a great option for your Tacoma.. I am saving up for the tranny skid and a rear bumper from RCI, as well..

I am planning to go with RCI for skids and am leaning towards them for sliders as well. Those look great!

Those do look great. How do they feel as far as steps?

I want some basic rocker protection, nothing too hard core, but also need to work as at least a decent step to justify them to my wife ha.

Would also like door ding protection to while I'm at it.

Thanks for the pics. Thoughts on my wishlist? :p

    Great pictures and feedback. Thanks

Do you have any pictures from further back....taken further away from the truck is what I am trying to say? If not no worries. Just wanting to see how well they tuck up to the rocker panel. Thanks

They work great for steps. Kids liked them when I picked them up from school today.

I used while washing truck today also.

I have had a more basic set of straight step sliders on my other 4x4. I have never been a kick-out slider kinda guy but after dinging my Land Cruiser twice with the straight sliders in the same spot, i thought I might try the kick-outs. Granted it was not the sliders fault but my driving... But these to me offered a nice cross over, not to hard core looking with a smooth transition to the kick-out.

Once I lift it 2" these will be essential steps, as well.

I will take some, there is a little space there, between the rocker and slider, on some angles I have noticed. Probably because I installed them and I notice that kind of stuff..

The front is very tight and clean, the back has a little more space. But again I am good with that, based on my blind spot and history for dinging my panel just before the back passenger tire wheel well.

Terrific! Thanks for the extra info. These look really good, and I like you just need basic protection for the moderate off-roading I plan on doing I don't need any hard core sliders. These are attractive and look like they would get the job done on all facets.

Is the skid aluminum or are you just going to let it rust out?

Did mine last Spring. Used jack stands. Installed the aluminum fuel tank skid also, don't plan on major off roading, just a grocery getter and firewood getter. Road to town can be slick or our private road not plowed in a timely manner.

Could you take a picture of your truck from the side so I can see what it would look like and how much angle there is? Did you order the 20 degree or 5 degree? Thanks
