If possible, pick up a 10 year old Honda Accord or something. You can usually grab one for about 3-5k and it has a large backseat. This will also protect your dream truck from baby smells

Even double cabs are tight with car seats. You have to pull the front seats all the way up.

Time to suck it up and trade your Tacoma in for a suv or van. Kid comes first!!!

The Rav4 is a very nice choice of vehicle. Lots of room in the back seat, plenty of room in the rear storage area, a whole lot of headroom all around, and it drives really well.

OP, you will also need room to carry all the essentials when traveling with your baby, which is a lot of stuff early on. If possible find a nice used vehicle for baby traveling purposes, if that is not possible, then trade the truck in and get something that will work, then later on you can always get another Tacoma. Its not like the Tacoma line will ever disappear.

Plenty of room. Don’t let people tell you otherwise.

A Camry? Tell your sales guy to step up his game if he’s trying to sell you a “family car.”

The Tacoma AC can take a rear-facing car seat up front fine, just move the seat all the way back. Your hubby will just have to ride in the seat behind you while you drive. My coworker does this all the time with no issue.

The airbag off light will show up, just like OregontoBajaCA said. http://www.ttguide.net/front_passenger_occupant_classification_system-46.html has a bit more info on the airbag light and where it's located / how to tell if it's off. That info is also in your owner's manual.

I don't have a baby, I'm not a dad, but I have used my truck along with my friend who has a baby and she always managed to strap her baby car seat into the back seat. And he's a 1yr old, so not so small. They have a special baby stroller with wheels which can collapse into a car seat for the baby which is really cool.

Congrats dude I just found out a month ago and I'm in the same boat as you but with a cab cage and race bucket seats so the rear seat is not accessible. Sadly cant put a child seat into a bucket seat with a 4 point harness.

OP buy a double cab that's my plan once my truck sales or it will turn into a full on toy

Can you link your child protectors you have? Do they even work- have you looked under the seat to see if the indents are absorbed by the mat? I plan on getting katskinz but was originally only going to install the front seats as not to ruin the rear and install those after the boosters come out

I would trade up to a double cab. That kid is gonna grow and you are probably gonna need the additional space.

Congratulations to both TW folks expecting in this thread!
I'd sell the AC & get something else.
What would you like RAV? 4Runner? Tundra?
    Best of luck

Congrats OP. I'm on my second Tacoma and I have the dual cab and it's still tight. I've got an 8 month old and I just ordered a 19 4Runner. The rear seat room is huge compared to my Tacoma. Typical day out with the Fam and after a few stops you either have a bunch of groceries all over the floor and on the seat or flying around in the bed. The passenger seat has to be quite a bit forward to not interfere with child seat also. I think of my new dadwagon as Taco with a cap on back.

I’ve used these on my last two Tacoma’s with amazing results. Admittedly, I don’t allow my kiddos to drink too much in the truck, but when they have and spilled something these mats do a great job protecting the seats. I used to used bath towels and tired of the look ;). I’ve also been very pleased with the seat back protectors, especially in winter. My kiddos have a unhealthy obsession with making pictures with their dirty, salty, snowy boots on the back of the front seats.

    OP,
Congrats, laws concerning kids in the backseat: You must have your kid in the backseat if: you have a full size backseat, you're fine to put the baby in the front in a rear facing car seat, lots of people with single cabs have to do it. But, it is a good reason to get a new truck haha

New TRD Camrys do look pretty dope. I’d say try to trade into a DC, or hell a Tundra if you can convince the husband it’ll be your forever truck. Thanks for the birth control reminder ;) good luck.
