When was the first time you saw a car seat? I'm pretty sure that growing up we just rode in someone's lap until we were old enough to sit on the blanket in the back of the old diesel station wagon. I was still youngish when mom decided that we all had to start using seatbelts, which was a new and far more boring way to ride in a car. At the same time cartoon characters had psa commercials, telling us to buckle up. (I remember thinking, why are you hocking seatbelts, Fred Flintstone, your feet don't go fast enough to get into a head-on.)

It's just interesting how some of the biggest changes in safety- both attitude and technology- happened in a single generation.

My mother in law dumped a handful of kids including my wife on the street out the back hatch door of their VW van when it opened up while she was going up a hill once, and I remember splitting my lip open on the metal dashboard of my Dad’s Corvair when he hit a stop kinda fast once. Those old days were fun times for us kids with our parents! o_O

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I had a VW Scirocco when we got pregnant with my 1st one!
With my seat in the correct position I would touch both the front and rear seat as I made a fist and put it between the seats. Lol
