Wired up my interior and 3rd brake lights today. Used a trailer wiring connector for an easy disconnect if I need to remove the shell.

Yakima rack. The bars are long enough to take out 2 mailboxes on opposite sides of the road simultaneously. Going to cut them down to about the width of the bed.

I installed the rack this evening. I decided not to cut the bars. They didn't look as terrible as I expected on the truck. I'll just pull them off if I need to be skinny.

With that, the re-debatable re-debacle is now pretty much functional for my day to day needs. Good tires, dry storage, and a rack for whatever won't fit inside the shell.

Now, to make her trail worthy...

    Thank you.

I meant to ask you earlier today, do you have any idea about the status of Stubbs Welding? I pretty much made up my mind to go with their sliders. However, I've called them three times in two weeks. No answer. Left voice mails. No call back. I know it's probably been a long while since you dealt with them, but was that similar to your experience?

    Welcome.

It's been 7 years since I did business with them. And Richard, was responding within a day. Obviously that's not a good sign, and frustrating, did you try their email:. stubbswelding@gmail.com. ?

Thank you. Your build was most helpful when I was trying school myself up on 1st gen suspension. As for the rest of your build...
Not yet, but that's my next step. Thanks for the email address. I like the instant gratification and personal connection phone calls provide.

I received a call back from Richard Stubbs earlier. They had been on vacation, and getting caught up afterwards. He seems like a wonderful guy. We ended up spending the better part of 30 minutes on the phone discussing trucks, sliders, and so on. He was extremely helpful, but not pushy at all. I was leaning toward his sliders before, now I am fully confident that's what I want.

One thing that blew my mind was that shipping from CA to TN via UPS is only $68. No other vendor (that I have found) will ship sliders for less than $100. Plus, unlike the fully welded Stubbs sliders, the legs/scab plates for most others ship unwelded in order to "cut down on shipping costs" I piad $100 to have my last set shipped from SC to TN. I just wonder if other vendors aren't upselling their shipping charges and pocketing the difference.???

Anyway, Stubbs HD-SKO sliders it is for me when the time comes. Maybe Santa will skip the sleigh and drive a big brown truck this year. :D

Oh, and a roughly 5 business day lead time doesn't hurt either. Ha ha.
