After having it painted matte black and after 20k miles alot of scratches took off the center section of the console. Soooo I decided to paint it a very durable wrinkle black and while I was at it I 'coated' the chrome shifter stalk black and put on a new fancy black trd shift knob....thought it came out pretty good. Better to look at than what it was before....

Omg that is amazing. That's such a better touch of class in the console department compared to the oem look. Everything looks sharp and clean. The shift knob is sweet too!

What kind of paint did you use for that wrinkle look? It looks great! I think just painting the shifter stalk makes a big difference, did you pull it out to paint it (does it just unscrew)?

gassman - that knob will fit your 2006 if it's an automatic.

Thanks guys, yea it really makes it look alot classier w/out too much bling. The paint is VHT wrinkle black. I let it dry for a couple days and than cured it for a couple hours near a heater fan. Now its solid, I think the wrinkle black after its cured is more durable than the stock silver paint. And the stalk, that was actually pretty simple. I took all the shifter cover and lights off than I used 'heat shrink tubing' =) I found the size that would go right over the stalk all he way down. Shrunk it and cut it to just right under the shift knob. Looks great and there is no way in heck you can tell its just heat shrink tubing =)

I think it looks very clean! I already ordered the shifter knob for my taco. You should do a mod thread on this. I am sure a lot of members, including myself, would be interested in doing something similar. :spy: I want to know time spent on the work, what supplies are needed, and estimated cost. Well done!

You should post a "before" pic for us manual transmission weirdos. I like how it looks, but don't remember what the original looked like!
