Re gear 6spd w/ 35s

Has anyone re geared a manual trans I see a lot of guys doing 4.88 or 5.29 with autos. I want to wake truck up a bit was never happy with gearing even stock was sluggish. Will be towing sometimes and might do a power adder later but will do intake exhaust soon.

 

Yes. Do it. I did it and it was great. I ran 35's with 4.88's.

No I haven’t done that I will look into it do you think the 5.29 would be to much

 

Depends. What kind of wheels and tires are you running? Normal size wheels with meaty sidewall tires or ridiculously wide wheels with low profile tires?

 

22x12 wheels with a 35 12.50 mud terrain amp is brand tire

Never heard of that brand. Anyway, I would run 5.29's since you obviously aren't taking the truck off-road.

5.29's are a really thin ring and as long as OP is staying on the street, then 5.29.s would be fine.

4.88's were great, but a little weak for 35's running a lot of extra weight.

Wasn't sure if he was serious at first, but then I remembered this was TW and low profile mud terrains are supposedly cool.

Nope! Mall terrain ends at 20! 22 is just... “ain’t no giving a fuck terrain” almost like a 15 but comes with a price called “multiple babimamas”. Not necessarily a bad thing but rather just have off-road problem... broke CVs!

 

To each their own wasn’t judging just not my cup of tea! Instead I’d rather get hammered butchering my truck and spend 4 days trying to figure out how to make it look ok! With the one caveat of well... ain’t gotta worry about clearance!

Truck goes off-road goes on the beach daily driven tows and everything else I have done with it not just a mall cruiser
