I take that back. You can get 5.29 for the 8" tv6 elocker. The thing is though, if you want 5.29 in the front diff, you'll need a thin ring gear carrier as the 2nd gens come with a thick ring gear in the v6 models. I4 manual models have a thin ring gear front.

Okay that is making sense. I am seeing also that 5.29 is not a right fit for a 2nd gen sounds like 4.88 is the highest you should go with them. There is a 5.29 option for the non locked 8".

I'd love to go 37's, and when I do, I may change out my gears from 4.88 to 5.29 in my 2nd gen. Hell, if they had 5.71, I'd probably do that.

Sorry can't help with the Houston thing, but just another data point for you. I had 4WheelParts (Temecula in Southern California) install Nitro 4.88s in my 20 OR and it came to $1,791 which included a 3/36 warranty on the install, and a diff fluid change after 500 miles. This was in March of 2020 so I'm sure its more expensive now.

Was that parts and labor for $1791?

Sorry my mistake, I just quickly looked at the bottom of the receipt, that wasn't including a $1,000 deposit that was applied off the top. So total including parts and labor was $2,791. It was $189 for the 3/36 warranty.

That price still seems pretty with labor included, compared to what others have seen.

I got mine done at ECGS and it was just a shade under 3k. He definitely got a good deal

I would trust ECGS a whole HELL of a lot more than 4WP. I wouldn't trust 4WP to change the oil in my truck.

Lol you and me both man. I'm surprised 4wp offers that warranty. That would make me feel marginally better about getting it done there

I get that, I feel the same way about franchises. Hit or miss. With that being said, I did a lot of research and a big reason why I chose them was because of one particular master tech they contract with. He's a gear specialist, been doing it for 25+ years. He only does regear jobs for them and knew his stuff cold. Also I have to say their facility is pretty damn impressive. Probably the cleanest and most well maintained garage I've ever seen.

Having said all this if ECGS was close to me, for sure I would have went to them.

What is wrong with this parts list? I found a kit from Nitro that's $1400. My shop sent this parts list that's a thousand more but I'm thinking they added parts that aren't needed or correct?

Here is what looks like a complete kit for mushers and a more preferred brand

They stupid. They got the wrong R&P for the rear diff too. Should be an 8.75 and not an 8. Go find someone else.

I agree, Duggy has some outrages pricing, and I don't know why. Out of curiosity I asked for a simple oil change and tire rotation and they quoted me $140 for an oil change and $65 for a tire rotation! That is absolutely absurd.

I need another recommendation for auto shop repairs... My transmission fluid is still leaking and I've already replaced the output shaft seal.

You're going to be in it for mid 3k range. I forget exactly and don't have my invoice, I had a front locker installed as well so that added $1300 or so to my total.

Thanks for posting this. I too called them to see what 5.29's would run and was surprised by the price. I think it comes down to supply and demand. If you want it done by a reputable shop it doesn't seem like there are many places that do it so they can charge a premium if you want to go that route. That being said it's good to know there's someone in the Austin area as well. Good luck with it either way you go.
