    All,

    Soon I will be re-gearing + OVTune.

I'm 50/50 on re-gearing to either 4.88/5.29 as both seems like a viable options. While reading through multiple forums I came across a few posts which concerned me about the cruise control after re-gearing. Some people stated that shifting was worse in CC after gearing, especially to 5.29. I've read that OVTune can improve shifting which might help with CC after a re-gear.

I would like to hear from everyone's experiences with cruise control after 4.88/5.29 re-gear and OVTune. I do use cruise control often and most of the highways I drive on are quite hilly. I don't want to spend $2k towards gearing to have the same/worse cruise control experience as stock. I think the feedback I get from this post will help me make my determination.

Cruise control still sucks. I'm hoping it is improved in the next iteration of the OV tune.

I've looked through the majority of both. I haven't seen more few than instances about the experience during cruise. Nothing detailed though

Is it at least better than stock? I went up a small hill today in cruise and it dropped to 3rd @4k rpm's just to get up. I'm hoping that OvTune in conjunction with gears does help. Maybe I'm just used to cars as this is my first truck

    What's your specific setup?

I'd say it's not any better than stock, in my experience, although it has been a while since I've been stock. I'm running 35's 5.29's and OV tune, bumpers, skids, winch. I'm probably pretty heavy.

Yeah maybe the weight and wheel size is what's doing it for u. Idk

I only wanna go with a 275 or 285/70. It's my commuter and I wont be modding for off-road, so there wont be tons of rolling weight to deal with

I was really thinking to get 5.29 gears as I like the rpm range between 55-75, but it sucks to hear that cruise is kinda shitty. Maybe it's just how its programmed to work which makes it rough.

In my experience (stock gears, 265/75R16), the adaptive cruise control performs the same as stock. I've read that it's been improved for the non-adaptive cruise control, but I haven't tried that. The rest of the truck performance is soooo much better though.

Ok, the 2017 TRD Sport does not have adaptive cruise. Thanks
