    Nothing wrong with 32s! :anonymous:

I only say this because my internal war on tire size is still raging on!

@AgingDisgracefully do what you want! But ECGS is correct! Fun fact all the same labor charge! So you don’t pay twice!

If you’re thinking lockers great time for gears! I’d go gears before lockers, but if it’s not a DD why not throw in the 5.29 or at a minimum I’d do 4.88 from what you’ve described from vehicle usage!

Oh, regear is definitely happening. The only questions for me are:
    1. Front lockers-I am now leaning against. To much damage risk with the Taco front suspension.

    2. Regear-How much? A part of me thinks go with 4.88. I was originally thinking 4.3 but I am probably too cautious a person generally (this is nothing compared with my 4 year discussion with myself about whether to get an FN SCAR lol).

4.3 would be fine for what you do and I wouldn't go any higher than 4.56 in your case. Unless you plan on climbing rocks and stuff offroading front locker is useless. Just get a rear locker and be done.

I thought the triangle was in the Piedmont or at least that's what I was always taught. :anonymous:

    1. I had this debate too when I regeared and I don't regret it. I've winched myself out of some bad spots that a front locker probably wouldnt have helped in anyway. The only trails I can't do that need a locker are dedicated trails that would result in too much damage. You can do up to 8/10 trails with just a rear locker and a good line

    2. You will be happy with 4.88s. Like I said I ran stock tires on 5.29s and loved it, even now on 35s I miss 5.29s and stock tires. I have a SCAR, go buy one, it's worth it

What kinda revs did you turn at 70mph? (On stock tires)

Im guessing if youve got the auto it was manageable since youd have two ODs

I don’t think anyone makes aftermarket 4.3 or 4.56 for the 3rd gen yet. Could be wrong though.

I don’t believe the SR5 has the same size rear diff as a MT or Off Road is factory 4.30’s might not work either. Again, could be wrong.

I’d personally do 4.88 if I were doing it again.

You are correct with the SR5 having a different rear than an MT or E-locker. I didn't think about that. Yes you can get 4.56 for the 3rd gen Nitro and yukon both I believe make a 4.56.

    1. Front locker used wisely and in limitation isn’t a horrible insurance policy! Or used when you do *need* with no winch points. So I wouldn’t count it out, just knowing when to and when not too!

    2. Stockish on 5.29 isn’t bad if you learn to drive it right! But you’re missing it is making me think I’m going to end up middle of the pack at 33s!

Just take spare axles with you and practice changing them out till you're proficient. Then who cares if you break one or 2 in a day.

Well, that's actually an interesting one people debate. I tend to think of them as separate, but I envy the Piedmont for its hillier terrain. I am not a good choice by nature to be a flatlander.
