The best match for a 2nd Gen to regain lost power AND mileage without sacrificing economy for power... 4.10 for 33s and 4.56 for 35s. The 4.10 requires a different carrier for the front in a 4x4. 4.56 would too but special 4.56 gears are available that work with 3.73 carriers. No such option for 4.10 yet. Since 5x as many people run 33" as 35" I think they missed the boat on selling the most gears. For 4.10 you need to buy a new carrier or an ARB locker, which replaces the carrier.

Front carrier correct? They should go right into a stock rear Sport differential correct?

I just regeared yesterday. Anyone want to buy my old front and rear 3.73 gears? Only 40k on them....

I think I heard somewhere that the guys on www.xr-underground.com like the 3.73 gears, but I may be wrong.

Maybe, but I was thinking more for someone to have a spare. They are useless to me now that I am at 4.56

I know this is a old thread, but I just bought a set of 4cyl 4.10 front used and I was under the impression that it was a direct swap.

Am I wrong? I need a new carrier?

As far as I understand, it should be a direct swap for the rear differential as long as it is not a TRD Offroad. As for the front differential I am unsure.

I put G2 488's in mine. You have to have the right tools to do the job. Got the gears from 4wheel parts. Installed the gears with a friend.
