Hey everyone! This is my first comment on here. So I put 285-75-16
Bf Goodrich AT KO2s on my 2016 Tacoma trd sport and while I'm towing I feel like the truck is lugging along and not getting the max efficiency out of the engine. I think I need too re gear the rear end but I don't know where too start with that. Does anyone know about re gearing a rear ending or why my truck is struggling with these size tires? It won't even break loose on the dirt when I gun it.

yes.. we all know about regearing. I re-geared to 4.56s with 33s, it's a waste of money unless you go to 34s or 35s.

Re gearing is not hard to do, but it does require a certain amount of mechanical ability and some 'special' tools. It needs to be done correctly for sure, if you have no experience in it, I would ask a friend for help or take it to a shop. I wouldn't call it a waste of money, my tacoma has 4.10's and 33's and it could use a re gear for sure.

Thanks for the replies. So you don't recommend regearing on 33's huh. I mean it's not that bad but I feel I could change something too get more power quicker too the wheels. Any other suggestions? By the way how much did it run you too regear? Also I've seen guys put a tundra rear axle in what do you think about that?

I have 285/70R17s on my 17 and it's super sluggish with stock gears. I have a set of 4.88s going in early January. Should help out a ton.

Ya I figured it would be this way unless you regear it. Thanks for the reply!
