Avoid Bilsteinlifts.com! They are selling lift kits (BK0510) with incompatible parts, specifically coils that VOID Bilstein's 5100 shock warranty. Here are the facts:

I have a 2013 Tacoma ext cab 4WD and purchased this lift kit from Bilsteinlifts.com ($703.98 delivered). The kit includes, among other things, two Bilstein 5100 Ride Height Adjustable shocks and two ToyTec/Eibach coils both for the front suspension. The Bilstein 5100 Circlip settings, per the instructions, were set "0.85" / second setting up from the bottom". A few months after having it installed by a certified auto technician, I started hearing a "metalic" sound when the front right suspension would compress like when going over a speedbump. After a very exhaustive removal of skid plates, bumper, etc trying to find the source of suspension noise, I took my truck to Suspension Plus in Laguna Niguel, CA. They discovered that the "circlip" on the Bilstein 5100 had failed and was slipping and, after replacing the defective 5100 ($420.43), suggested I contact the company who sold me the kit and/or Bilstein. I did both. The email from Bilstein (see below) clearly states that "Our 5100 series shock is intended to be used only with the stock spring. Using a heavier/longer spring can cause the issue you are having. Please reach out to ToyTec to for your warranty inquiry. "

I reached out to BilsteinLifts.com and thus far are hiding from me over email. No customer service phone # is listed on their website and the person who I am communication with over email will not provide me with a phone # to call.

Buyer beware! There are shady and untrustworthy companies out there!

    Kirk

Adding any aftermarket spring to a Bilstein 5100 series shocks (OME, Eibach, Toytec) will void the factory Bilstein warranty of "limited lifetime warranty".

Our warranty on these coilovers is a 1 year warranty but I can see what I can do on my end personally with this issue you are having.

I have no email sitting in my support inbox at this time regarding this issue, and our phone number is clearly posted across our website. If you wish to call me and chat over the phone about this issue, my direct line is 303-255-4959 ex 103, my personal email is Davidm@toyteclifts.com or shoot me a message with your order date, invoice number, and some detailed photos of the issue Ill be more than happy to assist the best way I can.

I just spoke to David @ ToyTec. Unbeknownst to me there are three companies involved - Bilstein (5100 shock manufacturer), ToyTec (lift kit "assembler" or "designer"), and Bilsteinlifts.com (web site that only sells lift kits assembled by others, ie "ToyTec".). My money went to Bilsteinlifts.com so I contacted them (they are not responsive thus far) and the product that failed (shock Circlip) came from Bilstein so I contacted them. According to David, I should have also contacted ToyTec. I did not realize ToyTec was the "designer" or "assembler" of the packaged lift kit and that ToyTec sold the kit to Bilsteinlifts.com who in turn sold it to me. My bad, now I know. However, David did tell me that no labor warranty money should be expected and that the best he "might be able to do" is send me a replacement 5100 shock. Of course, this does me no good since I already have two working shocks on my Tacoma - after paying a suspension shop $420 to troubleshoot and replace the failed 5100. The point is that no where in the ToyTec marketing literature does it say that the Bilstein 5100 ride adjustable shock warranty is null & void once they are mated to (installed on) any coil over other than those OEM stock coils tested by Bilstein. And that if you have a problem (which is very likely) with the incompatible parts, ToyTec won't reimburse any labor funds spent trying to fix the known problems. Had I known this IN ADVANCE, I would not have purchased this kit and I strongly suggest that if are considering a lift kit, to buy from more trustworthy and reputable companies. Clearly NOT Bilsteinlifts.com or ToyTec.

I was referring to Bilsteinlifts.com, not ToyTec. Bilsteinlifts.com won't give any phone #s, only email. Sorry for the confusion.

Sounds to me like your suspension shop(s) is/are the one(s) ripping you off. They installed the clip wrong, assuming they did the assembly work, and charged you 4x the going price for a new 5100 to fix it.

Me as well, Toytec does say that the coil will work with 5100s on the lowest setting or 1 notch up. They said not to go above that.

Yes sorry for the delay guys.

So we do offer 2 different spring options for the 2nd gen Tacomas, the springs and the springs.

When pairing up the 112-620 springs (which I think the OP has, still waiting on more info from him) with the 5100 series shocks on the bottom clip setting the 112-620 spring will yield approximately 1.6'' of front end lift (for leveling), and our research and development on these springs, we have found adjusting the clip setting up 1 notch (.85 setting) will yield a 3'' lift in the front end. We have offered this product this specific way for quite some time now with minimal to no issues at all.

The few cases I have personally seen over the 3 years I have been here of a C-Clip failing is 1 of 2 ways.
1.The shock body wasn't "machined" far enough down to allow a firm and secure fitment for the C-Clip to sit on.

2.install/ assembly error (perch flipped, C-Clip not installed properly, etc..)

The 521600 spring is designed for a 3'' lift on the bottom clip setting on the Bilstein 5100 series shock.

I will personally update this thread with any updates I hear from OP or the OP will update.

So after digging through my old systems it appears 1st off that he purchased through a 3rd party vendor (which we all knew already) in 2016 and the kit was a disassembled kit. The OP's shop (from my assumption) assembled the kit and must not of set the C-Clip in the notch properly or some sort of installation error occurred. We do extensive shock and coilover testing on all products before we think about offering them to the public.

Sorry OP! I bought this last black friday. Cant beat 15% off & no shipping since I live in Denver. I highly recommend paying for the preassembly. I went with this because of the . With a double cab/V6, I wanted more than . Without having any armor yet or a front bumper & the option to get some - 620 is perfect imo. No . They look great but I wasn't worried about getting the full 3". If so, I'll just buy some. Overall - excellent coilovers, Toytec AAL & Boss rears - huge upgrade. Thanks Hugo!

With my 265s you can see how much lift I got even without spacers....285s 1 day!

I consider myself lucky cause the kit has now. The back looks damn good!
