Looking for some advice for removing the rust build up on my rear shocks. Bought these brand new in April, maybe 5-6k miles on them. I do live near the bay here in San Diego and I’m guessing the build of rust is definitely salt or moisture from being so close to the water? Any advice would be helpful thank you. 99384788-2705-4BBC-8A5B-7484EE0CBA25.jpg

I would run some steel wool over it.

I had just happen to wet the underside to try to clean up the surface on the shafts. Truck had been sitting for around a month or so.

Use some WD40 on your steelwool to keep from scratching. Soak it down good and get to stroking!

Would you say this type of rust build up is out of the norm for a shocks that’s only 7 months old? I do park the truck near water here in the bay in San Diego. My driver rear shock doesn’t look as bad but yea kinda worried.

    Stuff and junk and things...
Time for new shafts, there is no way to clean that off and keep the original coating on the shaft. It will just start leaking once you take out the seals from the pitting and corrosion. By the look of the rest of the rusted parts it's time to move or not have anything aftermarket or uncoated on your truck.

IMO call Icon about that as it's not a normal or common issue with that low amount if time and or miles installed.
