One quick thing to point out: the factory skid plates have additional diagonal braces behind them that would certainly make it impossible to remove the sway bar … but every aftermarket front skid plate I've seen (mine was an All-Pro at the time) requires you to remove those braces which leaves a ton of additional space back there so you can twist and pivot the sway bar to get it out without removing the entire skid. Doable, but takes a little patience.

I have Icon suspension, and my truck rides better on the street, and way better off-road without a sway bar.

My lift goes on this weekend, and I am not super stoked about my new jack becoming INOP for the job.

Great piece of advice or information. I will do this step right after spraying some PB blaster on all the bolts.

Start that PB Blaster treatment several days before trying to crack those bolts free.

I think I wiggled mine out with the skid on, had to remove the relocate kit first.

The skids I'm getting are too good of a deal to pass up, so I was going to remove regardless. Now I feel a little better about it though. I know my brother's jeep made it a whole 5 miles before we decided it was a death trap without it.

OP lacks skills, experience, and tools to overcome adversity in removing a handful of bolts. Cries. Finally gets bolts out and then cries again.

I thought it was a bit anti-climatic based on the title.

    Sorry OP:anonymous:

@Forestman I was totally expecting you to have to call the station wrecker with a jack over the net to get you out of a jam.

    "uh...dispatch...can I get the wrecker to station H? I, uh...fucked up"

Great story. Not to criticize but, what kind of manly man doesn't own a real floor jack?

BTW, this does not qualify as a real floor jack

Lock up your tools, and give the key to your wife before someone gets hurt. Sorry man, but that's what my gut is telling me after reading this.

I spent 4 hours replacing the link bolts on my exs 2005 Sienna to replace struts.

Bought a dremmel to cut the nut off and use a cold chisel to split it

Hardest part was finding the nut as most home depot and lowes don't carry that thread but my local hardware store did
