I'd be okay with replacing fluid at 7.5k and every15k. They replaced my Tacoma diff at 3k miles.

I actually think it looks kind of cute for a woman to drive, you know a soccer mom type of vehicle.

I considered it... for about 30 minutes then remembered I was looking for a Truck. It may be the best thing since sliced bread and remote control TV but for me it's not a truck.

I'm glad your going to wait until 2017 to make up your mind. All I can say is my 2016 is allot better off after me being on this site than if I was never on it. This site encouraged me to check my fluids in the whole running gear. Grease my driveshaft and torque my axle U-bolts. Right now the front suspension plugs and the 2 lights for the license plate are on order with the dealer for warrenty replacement. I am now going to have the TSB for the tranny done when they do the warrenty repairs. Then I will have the truck that I thought I bought when I put my money in the dealers hand. I am glad that I don't have any of the other serious issues that some have reported. If it wasn't for this site and the grumblings here I am sure these problems would have continued far longer into Toyotas 3rd gen production. Exposure of problems in a public forum can only improve the product but it does so at a price by compromising reputations and human relationships. I do not regret buying my 2016 nor the 3 hours under the truck checking and adjusting improper fluid issues and other issues. In the life span of this truck it will soon be forgotten.

Well the Edmunds reviews are pretty harsh on the 2016. I just went over and took a peek at the 3.5 star average from users and a LOT of the same complaints we are seeing here in the forums. I looked at the 2015 and 2016 Colorado for comparison and they don't have nearly as many reviews but they do have a solid 4 stars. Same for the 2015 Tacoma and previous years. The Canyon has a solid 5 out of 5 stars, though not many reviews... but remember the theory is that complaints are louder than praise. So why are we not seeing all of the complaints for the GM twins, only 10 reviews on Edmunds yet on third gen there are 124 reviews and many not-so-stellar?

By that, do you think we sit around thinking of negative comments towards Tacomas ? Or making them up ?:confused:

Forums like this are EXACTLY what manufacturers need, whether they realize it or not, forums are created not just for enthusiast but for those who seek out answers to manufa. quirks &/or flaws.. If a group of people all have the same issue, it's more common sense to think there's an issue on the assembly line than it is to think theres a hand full of hardcore Toyota users conspiring to badmouth the public into not buying a Toyota, if a Honda more fits your needs, then thats the way you should go, I'm sure it's a fine product....

Now this is good news and I'm genuinely happy you were able to get your issues resolved.

I agree, Toyota customer service can be a real pain in the ass to deal with to get things resolved, hopefully you won't need to deal with them again.

I also read this forum and it almost convinced me NOT to buy a Tacoma.... BACK IN 2008. First gens were great, second gens were crap. Frame rust recall. Bent tailgates. Yada yada yada. Wait for gen 4 and you can come back and hear everyone talk about how perfect the gen 3 was and how the gen 4 is total crap. Human nature.

Yes, there are some problems with the new model and things I wished they had kept from the gen 2. They still have some tweaks to do with the transmission (but it seems like things that can be fixed), and I did't like the drop in torque for people who tow huge loads (you can thank the EPA for that).

So, I read through the forum to educate myself on what to look for and DROVE ONE MYSELF, making sure I would be happy with how it drove. Yes, its true, the dealerships will let you test drive them. Who knew? Not sure if I just got lucky or if Toyota has fixed some issues after a year but I was OK with it and bought one. Your mileage may vary.

The last place you want to get advice about buying a vehicle is at a forum. There are many things here that will not give you an accurate picture. There are competitors that get accounts just to trash and spread rumors and drive you to their product, there are ppl who modify and damage the product and then blame the maker, there are morons and to my experience, the more you try to make something idiot proof the more problems you create. Then there are those who have legit issues and they become auto hypochondriacs from reading a lot of trash.
Your best bet for advice is consumer reports, period. All others have commercial agendas to push.
    I have a ’16 4X4 SR5 L/B and have had zero issues, and I couldn’t be happier.
But If I was to listen to some of the nonsense here, specially about the transmission, I’ve would’ve crawled under the transmission myself, cursed, possibly got a burn mark or worst, accidentally overfilled my transmission or introduced contaminants into it, all for nought!

It’s a great truck, you’ll find it one of the best made out there.
    Hope that helps!
    Cheers!

Can you explain why Edmunds reviews are 3.5 stars 124 reviews for the 3rd gen but only 10 reviews for the Canyon with 5 stars and 4 stars for the Colorado with only a dozen reviews? How about the 2015 tacoma is only has a handful of reviews and solid 4 stars. So if the popular theory holds true that complainers are the most vocal wouldn't that speak volumes about the situation on Edmunds user reviews?

Back in 1990 I bought a Jeep Cherokee with the good ole inline 4.0, worst vehicle on review to buy with all black dots instead of red ones for almost everything. I was joked about it. 20 years later and 230,000 miles I traded it in for $4K cash for clunkers, still running great with really minor maintenance. Lesson learned. In late 80's I bought a friends used Peugeot 405 because it was "Car of the Year". Turned out to be the biggest piece of crap I ever bought in my life, in the shop with blown engine and a mountain of other problems constantly. They went out of business in the US. Lesson learned again. So keep reading those reports and buy accordingly.
