On two of my previous Toy 4x4s ('87 & '98), I had 3" round Smittybilt nerf bars installed. These were real nerf bars that could be bolted or welded to the frame. Now, the only thing I can find are the worthless "nerf steps" that don't provide any underbody protection at all. The roads here a really rough, and with this being the rainy season, rock and mud slides are a common occurance. I already dinged the bottom of my truck cab on a rock that was buried in the mud. I just want basic nerfs made from 3" .085 tubing that can be attached directly to the frame. No sliders or the like. I've looked into building my own, but with a 6 hour drive to Medellin and back just to get the tubing and have it bent is a hassle. I can fab the brackets and gussets and weld them up no problem. Trouble is ... there is only one place that powder coats and they want a fortune to do anything. Plus their workmanship blows. It is going to cost me a bundle to ship a set from the US to Colombia, but I'm ready to bite the bullet on that.
Can anyone point me to a place that sells plain old 3" round powder-coated nerf bars (no rubber pads) at a reasonable price ??
